I've recently acquired a 5d classic and i think its fab enough to make me want a mark ii. I aim to have 2 bodies for weddings next year but wondered if anyone had opinions on changing my classic for a 1ds mark ii ? I really like the feel of the 1 series. Would this be a step backwards/sideways ? Anyone use a mark ii + classic/1ds ii for weddings. Just thinking out loud here.

Any opinions welcome.

The 5d2 will be gripped. My query is do i pair it with my current 5dc or a 1ds ii ?

The focusing on the 1ds II is a lot faster than the 5d, if that makes a difference to you?

Yes, do it. The 1DsII is a fantastic body. It is noisy at high iso, but it retains detail well.

5dmk1 and a 1ds with L glass.

Good low light, powerful processor, great cameras IMO

Thanks guys.

Out of interest, to any Canon users reading this who shoot weddings, what is your preferred twin body combo ? Anyone still use a 5Dc as their main ?

5DII and 5DI here for me :)

Very happy combination which I use very frequently :D

The control layout on a 5D2 will be much closer to the 5D than the 1DSmk2. If you are going to be shooting weddings, I would have thought that having two cameras with very similar control layouts would be very, very useful.

I would be tempted by a second 5D classic you then have 2 cameras the same for weddings you don't want to be messing about you could miss special moments, ideally 2 5D mk2's would be better. But with what you save you could get some faster lenses.
5D classics where used an awful lot for weddings before the mk 2 came out.

Richard
