Basically an issue seems to be occuring either after a few shots of from the start.
AF beam doesnt fire, *easy to look for a red light eh* and so obviously camera /flash doesnt work properly.
Flash seems to resort to TTL and go off like a nuke.
Out of 3 bodies it does this on both my 1 series but not a 30D (atm anyway).
Another 580 (ive tried a few) works fine on both of the hotshoes of the 1ds.
Any ideas? maybe just a send flash off to fixation job. :shrug:
