Yes
I am being given a 580 mk 2 and was wondering if anyone had any experience of the battery pack (canon CB-E4) - as you may well know, it is just an extra power supply, and the claim is that it cuts recycling time from 6 to 1.7 seconds of full power - how well does it do at lesser power..?
One problem I have found with any flash so far is that when taking portraits with flash, I like to fire off 2 shots very close together, resulting in the second often having no flash as the damn thing has not charged up yet, and given how most cameras can take several frames a second, it seems like an external power supply might make it easier to get the seond shot (when the subject has just relaxed a little more). What can you tell me ?
Thanks,
Steve

I've been using a CP-E4 for my last few weddings, it really works - much faster recycle times . I've also just been advised to fill it with Powerex MH-AA2700 rechargeable batteries for even quicker recycles.

I bought a bunch and a charger from here.

I have used powerex for the last 3 years, I wouldn't use anything else. I have their MH-C401FS charger.

Steve I hope everything is ok over your part of Spain. You haven't been troubled with the flash floods have you ?

MH-C401FS - New Dual Charger with 2700mah Batteries, and free Travel Bag worth £8.95. Thats a good price.

Hi Shorn,
We have not been hit by floods, but have had some amazingly heavy rains, but also the last month has been total pants - not a bit of sun here in 2 weeks - totally out of order !
Will be ordering me some batteries later today, so thanks to you and WeddingHack for the advice !

Shorn - just wondering where you saw the above offer?

Many thanks,

Matt

I think that Shorn got the figures wrong. See the link below.

The reviews are fantasic though.

Yes, the 580 is much quicker than the 550 on recharge, and I go along with the battery pack with rechargeables, and I think 2700mAH are the biggest currently available.

nope I got the price right :) "worth £8.99"
the charger and batteries are as stated on the web £39.99 :)
I am ordering more as I type :)

Steve

How are you doing?

I use Uniross AA's and have been VERY happy with them. (2300 mAh I think.)

I have found that rechargeable cells tend to last forever, but when they die they die quickly and without any warning:D

Would like to know your experience with this battery pack as I have also considered it recently.
