Hi

Boring I no and prob been done millions of times so I'm not looking for a huge response I've decided to to upgrade my 450d but don't want to break bank and get 40/50d's + I don't really want a bigger body to lug around!
So just wandering the what the differences are between the 2 in question!!
I no most would say I won't notice the difference in this upgrade but I thought I'd do it now whilst I can still get a couple of hundred quid for my 450d!!
Cheers!!

From what I gather the only differences are the 600 has a flip out screen and is slightly heavier. The screen could be a nice feature if you intend to shoot alot of video, but if not then save yourself some cash and get the 550.

Hope this helps

Thanks didn't think there was a lot in it!! I'm not planning on making a movie! So I'll look at 550!!
Cheers

550d is a great camera, if your not shooting video I would go with that over 600d

I know the 600 has built in wireless flash commands for off camera flash as well as the flip out screen, but looking on the Canon website at the specs for both bodies there isn't much between the two of them, apart from the price.

If you plan on doing any off camera and/ or multiple flash then the wireless function on the 600d will be a big draw. I have recently started using the wireless function on my 60d with a couple of speedlites and portable soft boxes and it is so much easier than lugging mains heads around. I am loving it. However I rarely use the flip screen and that was initially what attracted me to the 60d it's just not as useful as I thought it might be. If you shoot a lot of video or macro work I am sure it would be more useful. The wireless flash would sell me on the 600d though. If you only plan on using one speed light and/or rarely off camera then get the 550d it will produce exactly the same quality shots.

Thanks all very helpful will put my 450d on classifieds!!

Fair comment and obviously it fits your needs but I should point out that to have the full wireless e-ttl functions and versatility of the 600d ,s system you cannot use basic flash triggers and the full function triggers are very expensive and you would have to buy two of them to replicate the full abilities. Plus of corse it's all built in, no extra gear to mess with or carry.

Just to add to my thread what's the difference between the 550d and the rebel t2i 550d??????

Same camera. T2i is the USA name and if you see a KISS X4 thats the same camera as well. (Japan name)
