550D software

Hi

just wonder if anyone can help me figure out how to edit a raw image on Canon 550D software

everytime I try and edit the photo a message comes up and says can not edit a raw image

and is there a way to compress the image as well?

I'm a total newbie to editting software aswell as photography so please bare with me

Hi Wayne,

By 550D software do you mean Digital Professional Pro, the software that came with your camera? If so that's a very strange problem. You most certainly can edit RAW (.cr2) files. Could be some kind of compatibility problem. I'm fairly sure you can download the latest version of DPP from Canon's website, that might be worth a try.

As for compressing the RAW files. You can't. Not directly. Storing them in a .zip file when not in use might shrink them down a bit but I've never tried it. When you finishe editing the RAW file you convert/export it it to jpeg which will be a lot smaller than the RAW file.

Thanks Barks but i've figured it out

i was trying to do it on the zoom browser but found digital pro

so all is good now to play about with it and see what results i get

The crop is much better IMO,

But I think the contrast may be a little too high, the greens are v strong and limey

yep like the crop, but agree needs darker greens
