550D Broken?

Hi,
I'm a beginner!
I'm in Florida and my Canon 550D (bought as a refurb from Canon, out of warranty) will not power up. Pretty sure it is not the battery as I have a charger with me. I don't think its the humidity here as I have removed lens and left it a while.
I have seen for sale a Canon 600D (T3i US model) for $425 with kit lens. This is shown as an 'import model'. Amazon UK have these for £419 so this would seem a good deal.
Any guidance /advice on the above much appreciated.

Welcome to TP - and sorry you have to open on such an unfortunate post!

Is it possible to do a check by trying your battery in a different camera AND a different battery in yours?

Thanks for replying. I don't have a spare. I'll try to get to a camera shop for a battery test.
 
My 550D died in a similar way. Worked one minute and wouldn't turn on (literally) 2 mins later. It never turned on again. Not the battery (i have 3) or the charger (i have 2). No resetting did anything - just bricked.
I had to buy a new one.

Im 99% sure it was humidity that killed mine (i was in a tropical rainforest at the time).

Yep that will kill a camera :)
