Edit My Images
No
I'm having a strange problem. I have just taken some photographs on my 550d, they show fine on the display. However, if I plug the SD card into my macbook pro no card is mounted on the computer so I can't see my images, or copy them to the HD.

I have tried other cards and they are fine.

So I plugged my canon directly into the mac, but it doesn't show either. I don't have any canon software installed and have removed iphoto. Surely there is a way of me getting my images off?!

has anyone else experienced this and most importantly, found an answer.

I've had a problem like this with an sd card once or twice, but it would eventually show up...

I still use CF cards, so I plug camera in via USB open image capture I think it's called and then go from there.. Have you tried using that program? Pretty sure all macs come with em..

I have just tried Image Capture and none of the images show up.

Can I also add, its a Kingston 16g SD. Not a cheapo one...

This happened to me last week & changing card readers worked. I have iphoto & aperture installed but neither set up to load automatically

This sounds like a card problem rather than a mac problem. Are you plugging the card into the mac or using a card reader. Having said that, a card reader wouldn't stop the camera connecting and uploading. Have you tried the card in a different camera and a different card in your camera. Even if it was locked it should at least register in the computer that a card has been inserted and should tell you if it is locked.

Have you tried connecting the camera directly to the computer witha USB cable?

OK. problem solved...kinda.
Plugged my 550 into my mac via USB and i have managed to get the photos off it using Image Capture. It seems inconsistent, sometimes it works perfectly, other times not so much.

When I try any of my SD cards (sandisk, trancend) they only mount approx 1 out of 10 times I try them - when plugged into the SD slot OR if I put them in a USB reader. Once I got the images off the cards, I formatted them - first using Mac Disk Utility, then in the camera. This has not made a difference.

I have also tried the SMC reset - no joy.

For it to be an SD card issue i find it odd that it would happen to all of my cards.

Sorry Vaughn, I thought you meant it was just the 1 Kingston card you were having a problem with, you put in the OP that you'd tried other cards and they were fine. Do all other USB devices work ok in your MAC and in all your USB slots. I use windows myself and have a internal card reader so I dont have a problem. Do you have to update drivers on a MAC the same as windows, if so you could try that. Have you also tried using your cards and card reader on a PC instead of the MAC and see if they are recognized on that or if there is still a problem.
