52 Week

Thank goodness it wasn't my eyes. Revisit looks much better.

Ian.

It's on theme Liz, and works well.. Nicely composed too. The second one is so much better too.

I like the last mechanical shot - got a nice vintage feel to it :)

Good idea on play too - second image nice and sharp. Well done.

Not sure about the all black background on this as it loses any sense of depth in the image, particularly the cards bottom right which are a little too close to the hand. Still doesn't look that sharp either, which is very strange. Lighting works well though and the hand and cards it's holding are well placed in the frame.

Oops missed the edit. Yes looks lovely and sharp now :D

Hi, and I hope it's not too late to add my 'welcome to the 52 madhouse'. It's great fun - despite some difficult themes. :)

Mechanical: First of all - I think it's great that you've worked with this image and produced different 'looks' which all have their own merits. My own favourite was going to be the black and white until I saw your final version which, imho, just pips it.

Play: Again a good set of ideas - and yes, the final imge does just win on sharpness. It might not have been a winning hand of whist, but it's a winning shot.

Jean

the sharper image is great.. bang on theme, no idea how to play whist.. looks a lot of cards to be thinking about in one hand ;)

And all of a sudden, the picture become clear. Much much better now that it's been sharpened up.

Hi Lizbeth,

Second one is definitely better . . . far sharper than the original that you put up.

Good idea and very nicely executed. I really like the composition of this.

I'm with Darren on the black background though. I was about to say that it looked too uniform with not enough feeling of depth - and then I noticed your comment about adding it in PP.
It's definitely a good bit of editing, but I'm not sure that it suits the image. I think I would have preferred something a bit more natural looking - sorry :(

Other than that it's a  from me though.

Any shot with little lambs in it is good for me! Cute as. :)

Hi Liz,

Like the shots of the lambs, think a different crop to concentrate more on the eye contact of lamb and mummy would be good.

The chemical plant is a good shot, especially with the train going past, just a shame its been shot from higher up.

Play is beautifully sharp now, with lovely crisp colours. You have done a good job on the clean black black background.

Chemistry (I shouldn't be looking as I still haven't done mine...) I think chemical plants are interesting things to shoot. I like the train coming past - just a pity you couldn't have got closer to the whole complex but you might have been arrested (apparently they are high security zones).

Cute lambs!

Think that the shot of the chemical factory is very good. Plenty of different detail to keep the shot interesting. Lucky to have been on hand when the train was passing! The sandbanks and water lines add to the pic.

Sheep with small lambs are certain to appeal to most. Possibly a tighter crop would have highlighted the eye contact between them.

I like the shot of the chemical plant - bang on theme - and the streak of blue crossing it is a good addition, but I agree with some of the other comments in that I think it would work better if you could have been closer and lower down. Having said that, I like all the different textures the shot from this angle has enabled you to capture.

Much more interest in the lamb shot. Nicely composed and I think the lamb on the right adds a lot with its look at mother. Just needs a tad brightening up to give it that clean bright spring feeling, but otherwise nicely seen and taken

I like your chemical plant image Liz, the bright colour of the train is a bonus:thumbs:. Its a shame you couldn't get closer but hey as you said it was an opportunity you took. Two images that are both on theme well done.
Iain

Two very different views of Chemistry!

I love the first one as it it. You've caught the high tech bleakness of the plant and the contrast with the untouched marsh land beyond very well - and I hope you didn't have to wait too long for that train! That's a brilliant touch. I worked on a chemical plant once, which was built on reclaimed land and was below sea level. It was damp, cold and bleak - and this really transports me back there! :)

How different #2 is! Lovely new born lambs enjoying life. I bet mum is telling the one on the right to wash his knees before dinner.

Definitely a good week, Liz.

A pair of good yet very different shots Liz. Both work well for the theme... I like the chemical plant, but I think because it's so far away, it doesn't quite have the impact of the second.

Two good and very different takes on the theme this week Lizbeth.

I love the concept of the chemical plant and the train in the foreground adds a good bit of colour and interest.
At the size that we're viewing here it does all look a bit distant and it's really hard to make much detail out. I reckon that this is probably a lot better at full size and has tons more impact.

I quite fancy seeing it as a pano crop though - cropped just above the chimneys to take the blue out of the background. (Scroll down your screen so you lose that top bit off the image to see what I mean)
Personally, I think that gives a lot more punch to the factory as the main focal point.

Lambs. What can I say? That's just a lovely, feel good, Springtime shot.
The lamb in the middle is in a bit of an undignified pose  That just adds to the charm of it though and it made me smile. :)

Hi Liz, I like the chemical plant which is very fitting for the theme. The train really makes the shot but unfortunately, catches the eye more than the plant, so detracts from the theme. Don't remove it, though!

I love the lambs but not quite so fitting for the theme.

Well done this week.

Jenny

Well done for coming up with a different definition! ;) That bank looks distinctly unsafe. I like the muted colours in this one, but the sky in the top left is a bit odd - have you burnt it in?

Very unique shot for the challenge and well executed:thumbs:
Assume that you must have taken it prior to a heavy rainstorm as the sky to the left looks thunderous:eek:
Look forward to your next interpretion:)
