weekly 52 in 2014 Cowboy

Thanks everyone, I seem to have a split on this one.

I must admit I felt it was missing something as I tried about a dozen different crops.

Smoke
I knew what I wanted to shoot as I'd never done it before and I thought a few others would have the same idea with differing results.

I like this except for the light in the top left and a little in the top right.

Nice smoke pic, like the mirror image to add symetry, though have to agree with Mandy about the light areas, top corners

Fits the theme, i think maybe if the light patches were not there it be a strong image.
Thanks.

I added the mirror image as she looked lonely on her own :)

Spillage is often an issue. Good title and you've done quite well. Slightly closer maybe.

Cheers.
Ta.
I had some black card up as a flag, obviously not enough though :)

I like it tho' it looks more like 2 skeletons dancing to me (y)

I also saw a face......... hair, eyes, nose, mouth, blouse/shirt collar  :D well done Mark (y)

Yes, they do look like skeletons. Minor crits: could do with boosting the brightness of the smoke outlines and possibly cropping to focus just of the two symmetrical figures.

Thats what smoke art is about to me - taking a plume and seeing something in it, and maybe even layering other plumes (or parts of) into complete the image.

Nice work - and she does need the friend to dance with.

Yup, can see the dancing bit - good effort - it's really not easy

Hi. bit of cleaning up needed and to be honest it doesn't look in focus but a good attempt at what is a difficult subject

Good use of making this symmetrical. I can see the two girls in the title but my first thought was of an x-ray of a pelvis with the legs going down

Thanks, bits of everything in there :)

I like this...and the mirror image gives it that extra impact, they do like like dancing skeletons

Thanks.

Thanks, something to think on, rubs chin thinkingly

Thanks, I think it's where the smoke moves to create the figures.

Bubble looks a bit frantic. Nicely focused
Smoke. A touch OOF and I'd have centered as there is more of the LS than the RS  Nice colours and shape to smoke (y)

Thanks.

Yep, the pelvis seemed to jump out at me too :D

Well done on trying something new for this weeks theme Mark, thats certainly the spirit of the challenge (y)
Good colour in there, and mirroring the smoke has certainly added an extra dimension to it.

Thanks, it's one of them things I've been meaning to try for a while but never got round to it. Over 100 photos to get three or four I like.

Definitely a Pelvis!
Nice idea.

My thoughts entirely (y):)

Ta.

Good effort mate I like it, bit of a clean up on the light spillage would make it a stronger image as someone else has already mentioned.

A nice stack of stones. Having an odd number works well and the green one adds a bit of contrast to the others. I'm maybe finding the shadow a little too harsh but am really liking the shallow depth of field on the surface though.

Thanks, I was going for a harsh light but maybe it's too harsh.

Simple, works very well (y) I really like the shadow, it's good how we see things differently :) I would've liked to see a wider crop, making the pebbles appear to be in a baron, wilderness like space

Hiya Mark, Mineral is a very "clean" shot as others have said the shadow is a bit on the dark side.

Play 2 is a cracker, get it on the wall!

(where has that piece of paper gone? I thought we had a plan? :grumpy: ) :cow:

Hi Mark, is that not a stack of glass
different BG might have helped but otherwise nice and sharp and a little crop off the bottom is needed but that might just be me

Mineral, nice rocks and nice muted colours. I feel there's mor to be had , though. Bit of work on the shadows, maybe.

Cheers.

I like the translucency of the stones and the contrast with the green stone. A reflector in front to take out that shadow would make it really cool.

Damn, that's my plan foiled.
If it wasn't for them pesky kids etc :)

Hi Mark :)

Mineral - That's not too badly lit mate, as said a reflector would have helped - liking the stack you have done with the inclusion of the green, some good shin and detail :)

I did use a small reflector :)

i was going for hard light, maybe too hard. If I hadn't tried I'd never know, thanks
