weekly 52 in 2013: Brian of Bozeat : COMPLETE

Hi Brian. I have to admit I had to come to the thread to understand your POV. All I could think was Rozanne and her red light !!

But now I understand I rather like it esp the windows reflection looks like the spaceship.. :-)

Great take on the theme, i wouldnt have got it if it hadnt have been said in the posts under the picture but well done.

Time: Really like that shot, something ive been trying to capture for a while. Beautiful blue sky!

Hi Brian,
Great take on the theme
Its well constructed and certainly bang on theme.
I did have a fleeting thought about trying a close encounters take on the theme but couldn't get beyond me building a mountain out mashed potato

Yay, I can see Rustic now!

I really like the angle, and overall composition. A bit more interest in the sky would have been nice, but that can't be helped, and the little that creeps in at the top of the frame really helps.

I don't even know where to begin with Kind, it's a cracker. The idea and the execution... Just great!

Time's lovely too... Making us wait so long fits in well with the theme.:D

Hi Brian,

Rustic, love the wind mill shot, the low angle really helps. Lovely green grass contrasts nicely against the grey sky.

Kind, I got that straight away and I think you've done really well I wouldn't move any of the furniture as it gives a good grounding, the spaceship lights make it look like you could step out of the room into open space (if that makes sense?)

Time reshoot, I really like the vibrant blue sky and nice fluffy clouds, the white Dandelion stands out nicely

 I can see you happily sculpting away at a mountain of mash!

Vertical, yeah, cracking idea. Nice dof, enough to show the location, yet isolate the subject. Subject is nice and sharp. Crit, looks a tad cool, bit warmer maybe.

Cheers.

That works really well the DoF is excellent and the rope and stick swing is perfectly in focus, excellent

Time reshoot, big  from me Brian.
Well lit, colourful and a sense of movement in the dandelion seeds.
All round good work, very effective.

Vertical, a simple yet again very effective take on the theme Brian, no crit to add.

What you doing for the rest of the week now that you got your reshoot image before it was announced you clairvoyant you ;)

 Ah right i get it now, your time wasn't a reshoot, you had missed that weeks theme. The penny's dropped. Still its only 5 sleeps until the new theme

Hi Brian, sorry I have missed your thread for so long!

Gravity, Cracking colour in the wine and a nice sense of moton.
Space, Lovely colours in the sky behind the trees, I like the minimal trails from the stars too.
Work, nice pic good composition, just needs a liitle off the bottom for me.
Gluttony, colours look very good, hungary now!
Juxtaposition, I like it. B+w is ideal.
Letter, A nice looking post box that one, nice pic.
Electric, That's a cracking pic indeed.
season, Snow, looks lovely :)
Wild, Dunnoks are one of my fave little birds, a nice pic.
Tacky, I like the fact there was space for your reflection.
Direction, Great pov and excellent light trails.
Value, nice use of a different angle there.
Greed, Great bit of pp.
Angles, I like that one a lot.
Rustic, Nice windmill that, like the colous.
Kind, that has worked very well.
Time, Love it, well worth waiting for.
Vertical, Nice and simple and works very well.
That reshoot made me laugh.

vertical - good spot, bang on theme, as the rope would be vertical (unless it were swinging or being blown...) it should be vertical in the shot, which it is (I checked

so  from me, also spur nailed focus and DOF used well here, angle of the stick seat adds a slight amount of much needed depth to the shot too, (for me).

and your "re-shoot", have to admit to having a slight (but only slight) chuckle.........

Hi brian

Kind....spooky......great take on the theme...can't give crit as wouldn't have a clue how to get that result

Time....lovely shot...great detail in the head plus a cracking sky & the bonus of the bits floating off the head...beautiful

Vertical... fab DOF & perfect focus..

Reshoot......is a little giggle allowed :D

Kind, very cool idea and pulled of really well

Time, nice details and a great sky for the background.

Vertical, simple idea nice and sharp.

Reshoot.....a bridge too far :D

Reshoot, could be Angle, Gravity, Direction, Space, in fact it could fit any.

:nono:

Mines not meant to be a re shoot of another weeks theme, I made it a theme all of it's own... shooting while he's shooting!

You're just not taking this seriously are you?

ok, have done it, I took about 24 of him, I always do when we go out shooting. ****es him right off

I love the simplicity of Vertical, and a great spot. DOF is spot on.

week 20 - Pattern

I shot LOADS of "pattern" things but nothing that I really liked, so I made these physiogrammes and edited them into a little set, still not completely happy with my submission tbh but I enjoyed doing it so hey ho, publish and be damned!

week 20 - Pattern by Brian of Bozeat, on Flickr

HI Brian

Lovely pretty patterns, good week for everyone to embrace their creative sides. Liking these - reminiscent of the old spirograph patterns you could make.

Only thing is I can just see the joins of the three patterns from where the red has spilled a bit, up the blacks a tad somehow (contrast / brightness) should get rid of this..

Good fun to be had by changing the hue of each one to get a different colour... traffic lights maybe?

Hmmm. how annoying, I can't see the joins here, I will have a look later on another monitor. Thanks for letting me know.

You are always up to your tricks  :thankyou:

I can tell you folks that my concentration to get a shot lowers my guard and BANG he's in there catching me in a compromising position, I'm glad he hasn't mentioned my little pink thing....but given time, given time and the truth will out.

metroman.

Hahaaaaa :D

Pattern - Love it, bright, great background (I can't see any bleed) and the shapes work really well, very creative mate

Love the DoF on the vertical shot, Brian. The composition on the dandelion time one is really nice - is the flower in situ or did you have a glamorous assistant holding it up to get that lovely angle against the sky?

Pattern, I can't see a join on my iPad or desktop monitor. I really love the 'grams but I'm wondering if you tried a horizontal triptych or if you went straight for the vertical?

until just now I had no idea what a physiogramme was, but I like it, particularly the contrast.

Given its a long exposure, how do you keep the background dark? what would be the typical camera settings?

Rustic: that windmill is great and the shot really works.

Kind: is this "close encounters"? This shot really didn't do it for me; I couldn't work out what was supposed to be going on.

Time: lovely shot, particularly like that some of the seeds floating off are in focus!

Vertical: also a cracker. Great contrast between subject and background and just beautfully off centre.

Re-shoot: no idea what to say... sorry!

Pattern: just love it.

Must have missed that rule ;)

Pattern, have to say, one if the best physiograms I've seen, all three. Very sharp, lovely colours and patterns,

Cheers.

Why thank you.

The dandelion was clamped to my bird feeder pole with the camera on a tripod, flash was hand held while I blew and remote triggered the camera. Phew, it didn't seem that complex at the time!

I tried allsorts of things with the tryptich, horizontal was just completely out of balance somehow, I think that it might be that I'm a bit "odd" but somehow they worked better (for me) vertical because they were made by hanging my bike light from the ceiling... LOL

Hi Chris, I ended up at f22 iso 100 for 20 seconds in a darkened (but not completely dark) room. It really helped that I tethered my camera to do these so I could see the results on screen after each shot and adjust the settings till I got it right without having to move the camera. then I tweeked them a bit in lightroom. THIS LINK will help if you want to see it being done.

Thanks, no worries, if you don't get the close encounters one I thought it was a bit naff anyway. And Brian (Metroman) is my muse, I can't help myself...

Good work on pattern Brian, it is a great effect.
I am viewing on an iPad and also can't see any bleed.

Only 1 more sleep until the new theme ;)

Yes and tonight I will be sleeping in North Wales, Sunday in Manchester and Monday in Hull. Lets hope the theme involves travel!
