I´m just back from a trip to Holland and decided to start a 52 as well.

Week 1
I´m starting with a self portrait taken near the shopping center "Marler Stern" in Marl, Germany. I went to the shopping center and the nearby ( very ugly ) industrialized apartment blocks when I took the photo in an unused staircase.

Comments and advises welcome.

Greetings from Dülmen, Germany

Nice photograph, black and white works well with it - I think it would have been better perhaps showing a bit more of the industrialism in the background, but this works too.

Good luck for the other 51!

Have you considered joining in with the "52 Challenge" ? Where we work to a set theme each week? :)

Welcome to TP

The contrasty lighting works well, and the dark area on the right adds mystery. I like the black and white treatment and the angle of the shot.

Enjoy your 52 Challenge, and perhaps we'll see you on the theme treadmill next week, unless of course, you've already got an 'agenda' for the 52 weeks. :)

Week 2
thex.jpg

( Best watched on a black background )
I took this photo at an fair in Dusseldorf, Germany. While searching for a quite place to recharge for another few hours of sifting new goods at the exhibition I found an empty wing.

Sadly Idid not take my tripod so I had to lay down the camera and photgraphed with a long bulb exposure. I named the photo The X because of the crossing escelators.

Week 3
eiskalt.jpg

A few days after new years eve it started to snow and it was so freezing cold for the following 2 weeks that the snow did not melt. During the night we had temperatures of minus 26 celsius.

Love this picture, looks like it could have been taken inside the Death Star

Week 4

From a rat´s point of view
Taken in a multi storey car parc in Venlo ( netherlands ) three days ago.
I like the point of view as it is not a normal view that everyone has when entering a car parc and I like the threatening atmosphere.

C&C welcome

That sounds interesting. Where can I find the thread?

You've got some stunning photographs there. The ultimate low angle shots are fabulous - I think I will have to try some myself

The Themed 52 thread is here

and the theme for Week 4 will be announced very shortly.

If you want to be emailed the theme each week PM me your email address

Some great shots here. I especially like the low level shots, I must try them at some point. And welcome to TP :thumbs:

:agree: some stunning shots, I particularly like the escalators. Also welcome to TP

Thanks a lot for your comments. It´s always good to get some feedback.

Is there any chance to change the topic? In other forums it is possible by editing the first post but I haven´t found the option here.

Use EDIT and then ADVANCED to chance the Title line.

Week 3

This is my favourite but all of your shots so far have been very good and well thought out. I like lone tree shots and this is no exception. Looks so cold and like the sense of isolation in this well exposed and very well composed shot. Also like the mist hanging in front of the trees adding to the wintry feel and atmosphere

Week 4 Surprise
Imagine you open up a egg carton and you´ll see a special egg...right in the middle of a mob of angry eggs...

Überraschungs-Ei = Surprise Egg

love the theme and well captured

That's a very humerous take on the theme  We have the same eggs here in the UK, but they are just called "Kinder Surprise", However they are instantly recognisable even with the German branding. (I took a shot myself of one this evening incase I can't get something else, not as good as this though, but you have given me another idea :))

The image I feel could do with more DoF and the cutting out could be a bit smoother. I do like the orange background but I think the lack shaddow under the egg box is a bit distracting.

It's a good shot but not as good as your other ones, however, it is a particularly hard theme to get a great shot for in a single week.

lol lets see how many Kinder eggs we can get for this weeks theme, great shot love the colour and the drawing on the other eggs :)

Good shot, and there's me still  and you have a shot in the bag :D,

Superb interpretation, and a good image too.

Haha, great idea! I think the lower left egg is my fave. I wish the cutting out were a bit neater, but otherwise great shot.

And I thought it was an outstanding idea with the surprise egg. Didn´t know you can get them in the UK as well...will have a cappuccino now with a Kinderschokolade bar...

That is brilliant, love the fact you drawn people on all the other eggs.:D

Not sure how you could have done the "cutting out" any better, its something I've struggled with before and not had a lot of success.

:lol::lol::lol::lol: very good :clap:

I'm the same with trying to cut out, not a lot of success either

Hi! I really like your images too. I must try some very low level shots. Good interpretation of the surprise theme well taken and a nice humourous angle on the theme.

As others have already said, the low angle shots are superb, I must try this next time I'm in a car park. Welcome to the 52 challenge I will follow this thread with interest:thumbs:

:lol::lol::lol: what a great interpretation, and apart from the cutting out difficulties, which are minor, it's a well though out picture. My favourite is 2nd from the left in the front row, as she looks like she's about to be surprised too ;)
