52 from Dark Star - 26/52 Night 1 and Night 2

Brilliant Brilliant Brilliant:clap::clap::clap:

Oh and I also love it...

So well executed...:notworthy:

Yes, a fabulous shot:clap::clap:

I noticed your post elsewhere from your day n town and thought 'why isn't John using one of these for Linear'. And I didn't want to comment and say that one of them would be great for Week 19. :)

So now I know!!! You've saved the total stunner out of all the excellent ones for the 52.:thumbs::thumbs:

If I could 'see' shots like this and execute them like you do I'd be chuffed to bits. It's excellent.:clap::clap:

Jean

I should've guessed from seeing a lot of your other shots John that you'd get something like this, only you've outdone your normally excellent stuff with this one , excellent.

Wow guys - thanks soooo much for all those positive comments :)

I'm so glad you like it - I've rekindled my love of architecture it seems (and flowers as I have an alternative linear that I might just post later :))

Thanks again!

Much appreciated!

What a cracking shot :clap::clap::clap:

Reminds me of La Defense outside of Paris where I took some pictures like this last year. Nothing like this though around my part of Spain, it's all new villas, apartments or old cortijos (which have their own charm)

Oh, and did I mention that I love it

As I said on Angela's thread architecture shots don't do much for me but again I can really appreciate the composition of this one. I think I'm going to have to look at more of this kind of shot to work out what I'm missing

Very nice indeed. I got loads of things along this line (see what I did there??) when we were in San Francisco, but I didn't want to use a stock shot and SF is a bit far to go for a re-take!! Well done!!

Jill, DS and David - many thanks :)

I'm way behind on comments to your and other's 52 threads so apologies :(

I love dull Teleconferences, give me chance to look at these photos and comment :D

There is something that reallly works about glass buildings and photography, this is a lovely example

I really like the almost monochrome nature of this image (I love colour shots that look B&W so this is really to my taste.) The only thing I would say is that the edge of the building is a tilting in a bit. Overall though it is a great photo

Thanks Simon - my perspective work needs more care :D

And I'm with you on the dull teleconference comment

Ah this one is late and it had me stumped all week...no handy folk to pose for me apart from one not too successful group photo I took at a BBQ yesterday - but I didn't do too good a job and decided against it.

Having seen such well shot takes on the theme here today I was still scratching my head until I looked up

On the shelf above this PC Screen is a row of music books - some more than 35 years old

Music is very important to me and can conjure up emotions like little else - happiness, sadness, anger...mostly associated with memories I guess! And of course banging out a tune on the guitar can be a great release of pent up emotions :)

So down came the books, out came the guitar and my image represents the atuff which can, for me, trigger a whole array of emotions - music! :)

PS: it might also give you an insight into my musical tastes which are, to say the least, catholic :)

Love the idea John, its a nice take on the theme.

The composition is great and i lvoe the fact the books take you right out the edge of the frame :D

Agreed on the power of music to conjure up so many different emotions. Music is the the key to so many memories.

I love this shot John, it's simple, well composed and well executed.

Mark:thumbs:

Ruth, Mark - many thanks - all those volumes are very well thumbed! :)

I totally agree with this!!

well done!!

Nice to see someone with a good taste of music[for some of the part :p]
Like this shot, certainly out the box - awesome

I agree with this. Technically a very good shot though

Jon

I've got a few of these in the loft. Good shot, I might have cropped a bit tighter but this works well. Nice one.

Thanks all :) I feel it was a little bit of a cop out as I wanted to show an actual emotion but just couldn't think of how to do it unlike some of the shots that you guys have posted

As for the crop - I did toy with showing no space either side of the stack but somehow that didn't work for me

Ah well better late than never :)

Another excellent shot from you again this week John...

Fits in nicely with the theme, great idea...

:agree: good shot John. I agree on the ability of Music to release the emotions and memories.

Hi John. :)

Well, you have a great list of bands and solo artists there amongst those titles, plus some of the bands really portray deep and meaningful emotions through their music........brilliant stuff.

Music evokes all sorts of emotions and I feel it is sometimes (depending on the circumstances), along with 'time', a great healer to the soul. Oh dear, I waffled on a bit there, lol. :D

I think it's an excellent idea John to show it this way and certainly different too.

Thanks Beth and you weren't waffling :)

In amongst that lot is one of the greatest singer songwriters going (imho) - the great Jackson Browne!

His stuff touches some chords for me (if you'll pardon the pun!) :)

I rather like this. Just a minor suggestion, but it might have some more impact with a black backdrop. Blue-tack tome black card or fabric to the wall behind it :)
None the less, excellent shot.

Cheers Matt - I had considered that - in fact when I first framed the shot the frame was filled by the books but I pulled back a bit to show the edges - I think you have a good point there

Complex - ooh I'm late tut tut! Busy old week!

And this one had me foxed - many folk have created images that had crossed my mind - flowers, self portraits, clocks innards (all better than I could have done !)

And then I looked at my bike :)

Gears have always seemed somewhat complex to me although no doubt the more mechanically minded see them as quite simple really :) Its all subjective I guess!

Anyway to me they remain...Complex:

Well done you made it...

Now that's a lovely shot and well worth the wait...:clap::clap:

Nicely cropped in tight to give it some real impact...

Spot on for me....

and yes they are...Complex...

Thanks Marcus - much obliged - I really must get my act together :)

Thank you Jean and Ruth :) Glad you like it :)

I've just noticed that on the central cog the number 21 is very clear!

Uninitentional but fits week 21 quite nicely :)

Good idea for the shot and you've made it work well.

Catch up time John :D

Emotion - love this one, and although I'm not a guitarist I've got stuff by all the artists except Nirvana and recently just bought Second Out - so definitely says emnotion to me as I felt a few different ones just reading the titles. That makes it a great success in my opinion. It doesn't just portray it it made me feel it too.:clap:

Complex - I wondered where you'd got to

Love the tight crop and the abstract nature of this. Ticks all my boxes  :clap:

Now what the heck am I going to do for Time   :gag:

Gary, Jill - many thanks - I'm also stumped on time :)

I think i nearly cut myself while looking at this image its so sharp! Lovely detail on the cogs, you can even see numbers and letters on them. Suits the subject well i think.
