50mm F1.8

You will have such fun with that baby - best small investment you can make - and it can take better images than lenses 10 times the price - just be careful with the massive depth of field you have on tap ;)

the 50mm 1.8 it the ONLY lens i have for my 30d at the minute lol

there are worse lenses to be stuck with admittedly

Indeed - however the crop factor means that you are a little limited at the wide end - I take it you have a cunning plan?

yep, it's based upon the fact that i'm comfortable telling white lies to my girlfriend regarding the prices of lenses. much the same as she is comfortable telling me porkies about how much here hair costs

My wife thinks my d700 cost £800. I know damn well the last pair of shoes she bought cost more than £80!
We are comfortable in our little lie!

Lol x 2

I'm getting the feeling that this is standard 'enthusiast' behaviour.

Have fun with it!
Personally I found the 50mm too long on a crop body and for that reason didn't use it that much. But I'm hoping to get the Sigma 30 1.4 to replace my Tamron 17-50 soon :)

I hope to get the same exprience - I've just bought one off the classifieds to go with my new 550D and kit lens. :)

Enjoy Andrew. I got mine new a few years ago for like £60. Bargain. I don't actually use it much but sometimes it's nice to go out with just that lens and make a shot work with it, if you know what I mean. The depth of field is brilliant, can be quite awkward to nail AF, especially if something is moving.

Thanks guys, i'm loving it, it's like having a new camera and it's given me even more enthusiasm, for less then £100 i think everyone should own one

Awesome little lens!
I got mine for about £75 off Amazon. Was the first lens I bought for my 550D
Great for portraits and low light stuff

I loved it when I got my 1.8. I have since moved on. I have to agree that it is a great lens for the money, certainly opens eyes to new aspects of photography.
