Hi all,

I'm after 50mm extention tubes to get some macro shots going :)

Anyone know where i can get some?

Almost any of the main camera dealers will supply a set of Kenko tubes. 12, 20 & 36mm. Use them singly or in any combination.
As you can see you can have 48mm or 56mm with that set which is near to your requested 50mm.

I have the nifty 50 as this is the only prime lens i have i just wanted to make the macro alot better.

But on the cheap! £50 max maybe

You'll struggle to get auto tubes for that price.

Be wary of cheapo tubes, they don't have electrical contacts so you loose auto focus and, more importantly, aperture control so you have to either shoot macro at f/1.8 (useless really) or resort to holding the DoF preview button at the required aperture while dismounting the lens.

Better to save for auto-tubes.

Another option might be adding a raynox DCR 150 or 250 supplementary lens. Great quality little lenses, but not as flexible as extension tubes, and they're more designed for tele photo lenses.

Ah right so £100+ for auto tubes then ? might as well spend £200 and get a macro :/

been looking on Ebay bog all on there or im looking at the wrong thing :D

I bought some cheap ones of fleabay, mountedthem on the lens and then the body, couldnt get the damn things off either without a lot of aggro, steer clear of the really cheap (chinese) stuff.

You could just get a lens reversing adapter for about a tenner. Everything is manual, but it is cheap...
