I am looking for a grip and batteries or my new 50D...

I know there are some on ebay...so youve guessed that about the £50-£60 mark is my idea...

Has anyone bought one of these and can recommend a particualer one...there are quite a few choices...so...a little direction to a good source would be very helpful...

Have a look on ebay for a seller called etefore HKSupplies.

I have one of his and it is a quality piece of kit.

Have a search on the forum for his name as this has been covered before and it will save you time.

cheers...

Just out of curiosity...did you manage to avoid the VAT man...

I bought an Opteka grip from Amazon for £75, including 2 batteries, it works well and is great value for money

I also have a Phottix from HKS @ £52 including 2 Batteries & delivery. It has been good so far (2 weeks)

Did you have any probs with Tax man...getting it into country...?

I have a Phottix on my 350d and have had no problems whatsoever works well, build quality is good and had no problems with the tax man

No, no probs but you roll your dice you takes your chance :naughty:

Personally I'd spend the extra and get either a proper BG-E2 or the newer BG-E2N

I too would like the original Canon grip but would rather use the money saved for something else. It's not as if you are looking through the grip or anything it is basically just a bit of plastic with a few buttons and isn't going to affect the quality of the photographs you are taking. The HKSupplies version is very well made and a good alternative.

bought both my grips off ebay car'nt remember which trader it was but was declared as a gift and both faultless for a canon 350 and 40d

i got mine from elefore (2 batteries +grip for £60 delivered)
no memvement at all solid, reassuring weather seal on battery door

my phottix one had the batteries sticking out at the front and was uncomfortable to hold, wheres my mates genuine doesn't

You could always go for a second hand original Canon on Ebay? They are out there from time to time...

If you use your camera outside a lot - and get caught in showers - the newer BG-E2N has better weather sealing. Might be of use...
