this is properly a topic often bought up, but i searched it and none of the ones i found gave me the answer i was looking for. I currently use flickr but have been looking into a better way to share and sell my photos online, was looking at 500px and it has the store feature built in, now i was wondering if anyone uses it and how they find it?

I Don't mind paying for its so called awesome account but didn't want to pay for it if it was no good.

no experience with 500px, but tons of great photos on it!

I use smugmug which is great. Have a look at their website!

I'm on 500px, though haven't sold any pics. :(

If you do a join, and don't enable your pics in their store, you may get a message at some point saying that someone wants to buy one of your pics , and to enable the store option. The person, if there ever was one, may not follow up their interest. It has happened to a few people here.

Good luck if you decide to join and sell your images.

I've only recently started to use them. I like the look and feel of it, much prefer it over Flickr.

I only enabled the store feature about a month into it after prompts and I've had 5 sales through it.

I use it and I much prefer it to Flickr, however, generally I find the comments you get on 500px are much more generic and useless to a degree and most just routine stuff designed to invite you to reciprocate above anything else.

The portfolio and personal website features are vastly lacking that you get with SmugMug or Zenfolio though. I paid for an extra year with 500px before they jacked their prices but I also went with Zenfolio for their much better site/portfolio features.

I've just signed up with 500PX and it does seem slow and not as easy compared to Flickr. I suppose you get the benefits once you've done all the work though, at least you stand a better chance of selling a photo with 500PX.

500px has a few big problems, like you can replace a photo (let's say I've fixed a fault, or want to add a watermark) and more importantly you can't limit photo display size (so upload with that in mind). I can't see any point getting pro subscription, unless you need a portfolio website and have none yet. Selling is a mixed bag - $2.99 for download is ridiculous, but canvas price is more realistic (so only enable that and not downloads). However I just can't see many of them sold, it is just not that sort of a site most people will go canvas shopping. In comparison with flickr I can't see much difference except that 500px puts forward great shots, and flickr explore is something like a bad copy of instagram. Both have really great content if you look for it.
