500Px

I'm not sure you can link from 500px.

I put full res images on 500px, and I wouldn't want them linked anywhere else.

I use Imageshack for hosting linked images, but I've also used Photobucket in the past.
 
You can't right click to grab the URL on 500px, and the embed code is only available in proper html which won't work here.
However the image URL is shown in the embed code so you can copy that and use the BB code img tags.

I have noticed that 500px has the rather annoying "right click protection", but I find the easiest way to grab an image URL with firefox is to right click on the page (rather than on the image) and select "view page info" and then select the "media" tab and scroll through the list of images on the page till I find the one I want, then copy the URL I want by right clicking on it and selecting "copy".

Maybe you should test its defo not possible ...I could steal all the shots in you gallery ok, none of then are full size in dimensions though...fancy showing us a public link to a full size one and seeing if we can access the full size? ...worth knowing right! :) :thumbs:

It does seem rather a charade of security for the users, I image many users think they are fully protected by it ....Not realising than any halfwit developer like me/us can find the files held in the cache.
 
I think it's a better plan to have a separate hosting account for things you want to embed anyway.
It's annoying to look at a thread a few weeks old and find that because the poster has moved or deleted them in their flickr account or whatever, it no longer makes sense.

Obvious options are photobucket and imageshack but there are several other good free ones which allow gallery structures and supply BB and html codes to paste straight in.
postimage.org and bild.me are two I'm using at the moment.

This image is posted on 500px at around 4000x2500 pixels.

In a Google image search it is coming up at 280x280 pixels.

I would be interested to know whether anyone could get the full res image from 500px. :shrug: I'm obviously hoping not. ;)


As an aside, whilst doing this I found one of my image being shown, via a link, from 500px on a travel website. :thinking: I've emailed the site and asked them to remove my image from their site. It will be interesting to see what they say.
 
I'm 99.9999% certain that it would not be possible for anyone to access your hi-res without hacking the 500px servers. The largest I could download would be the 564 x 900 display image.

My approach would be different. I'd send them a screenshot of the page of theirs, using your image, as an attachment to your invoice for £300 for its usage. Include a note that the fee is annually renewable. ;)

Also, since rapid re-editing of webpages in order to hide their sins would be cheaper than coughing up for stealing your image, consider this service: http://www.webcitation.org/. There's no easy get-out for them, if it's archived there.

I get the same as Paul below, same size, not the large one.

It must be a generated copy of the large shown on the page...not actually linked to the large...cool. :thumbs:

With the company showing my image, it is a travel site which has my pic on it, though users of the site post the content about their planned holiday via images and links. I'll give them a couple of days to remove it and take it from there. :shrug:
