News is just reporting a 50' sink hole in the central reservation of the M2 - motorway closed ATM.
 
Between Sittingbourne and Faversham, think the south of the country is going to sink soon

Highways Agency reporting "long delays". Which again, kind of figures.

As far as I can work out, it's on the bit of road where people always crash so closures there aren't that uncommon. Massive sink holes on the other hand are usually closer to Sheppey :)
 
there was a really good show on bbc last week about sinkholes in california, probably still on iplayer. worth a watch.

Not so good for the guy whose bedroom floor disappeared into one, taking him with it ... never seen again! :eek:

Thats big enough to lose a couple of cars down :eek: it was such a luck thing that it happened in the central reservation and not the carriageway during a rain storm !

It was a fascinating documentary, but also quite off putting for someone who spends about six weeks a year there. :/

I heard it was caused by people trying to tunnel their way from Sheppey to the mainland.
