I'm about to move my business to a new unit which has power but no phone. I will need broadband access (not huge bandwidth but a reasonably reliable connection) and am looking at options.

I can get a BT phone line installed but installation and line rental are obvious overheads but then came across the Huawei E589 4G wifi device, here. The area I'm in is rural but according to the "map" says it has good 4G coverage.

Has anyone any experience of these? It looks like EE are offering a months free trial which seems to be a reasonable offer?

Whoops - forget the above....I've double checked and there is in fact no 4G coverage :bonk:

I'll try using my HTC Desire as a wifi hotspot and if that fails go the BT route.

Check your Three coverage, I've used a mifi from them in some pretty rural locations with success. You can still get up to 20 Mbps download out of a 3G DC-HSDPA connection.

Unfortunately the 3 coverage seems patchy (will work outside but not inside according to their site) at my location. I'm with t-mobile and that's a "very good" 3G signal so will try that on Monday although (in general) it's always seemed sluggish with the handset - maybe it'll be quicker configured as an access point.
