46" smart led 3d tv help!!

When I'm purchasing new AV items I look at magazine reviews and grades in What HI-Fi, maybe search their website for their star rating?

Myself ,I would be swayed towards the Panasonic, all my main TVs are Pani's and had no faults or issues at all, unlike my friends Lg's, sony's and Samsungs
 
I've got a Samsung and I'm really pleased with it. Had it about 18 months with no issues. Would probably think twice next time as to wether or not to get 3D as it gets used only about once a week or so if I watch the footie
 
Samsung are the market leader and have a reputation for producing sets with top notch picture quality.. I've just bought the 46F6500 on a good deal from John Lewis on Black Friday, comes with 5yrs warranty. If you want a SMART TV Samsung also supply their TVs with the most comprehensive catch-up choices.. I've spent loads of time reading reviews and there really wasn't any other manufacturers that came that close for the overall package.. worth doing some reading up of your own to put your mind at rest

I have done quite a bit of looking over the past few months...but still cannot make my mind up :shrug: thats why i asked here... I didn't think it could be so difficult :ty:...mark.
 
One bit of advice I would give to anyone thinking of buying a Smart TV and using it connected to the internet, check first its specification and minimum requirements. I bought a Samsung Smart TV with the intention of using it as an extra computer. However, on unpacking and setting up the TV, there was a warning saying that it can only be used with broadband speed in excess of 10mbs,, I only have 5, so was quite disappointed. Even with an ethernet cable the TV wouldn't play ball.

We bought the TV from John Lewis and explained to the assistant that one of the reason for buying this set, was to use it as a computer, it even came with a wifi keyboard. Either he didn't know this, or couldn't be bothered to tell us. This might not apply to all manufacturers, but it does with Samsung.

Having said that, it is a fantastic TV and stood out streets ahead of the competition when viewed from a distance in the showroom.

I bought an LG 3D TV a year ago and love it, it uses passive 3D instead of active, so we got 5 pairs of glasses with the TV and replacements are about £5 or free from the cinema.

It is a smart TV, works extremely well, remote is excellent, sound is good (for a TV) iPad app and the picture is great.

You might get better pictures, but can you tell? How often will appreciate the slight different a TV may give? Setting it up right for the room is the first part and after that ease of use i my main concern.

Got my mum a panasonic TV based on advice off the net and reviews and IMO is the worst TV I have seen in the last few years. The picture may be great, but the buttons on the TV are the cheapest buttons I have seen for years and the remote is so basic with absolutely no thought at all put into it. It got 5* from magazines, it was the cheaper range, but it was on par with the budget TVs in terms of features, ergonomics and user interface.
 
I spent like a month pondering this exact question recently. In the end I bought a Sony. Never seen a bad picture on a high end Sony (yeah, I used to work for them).

It cost a lot. But I reckon my last Sony had lasted over 10 years so it was a good buy.

Was very tempted by the Samsung LED and a Pana Plasma but in the end just didn't like the exterior styling.

6 months on it's still the best picture I've ever watched :D
 
i bought one of the samsung 55" led backlit smart tv's not too long ago overall they are pretty good with a ton of features you'll never use once the honeymoon period is over
watching films which i do makes pretty good viewing but i do have a niggle
the samsungs ( at least the model i bought ) are prone to clouding when bright white backgrounds are prominent and it's very noticeable no amount of twiddling with the settings will stop it completely although you can reduce the effect
apart from that i am very happy with it :)

3d is a bit of a novelty but works well samsung have subsidized the price of the glasses and work out about 15 quid a pair so not too hard on the wallet
