This is simple so I decided to stick it in basic :)

I was wondering if you could buy a clip on screen protector plastic for the 450d? or anyone recommend screen protectors that won't be hampered by dust when applying. Driving me nuts having air bubbles and dust under there! I tried so hard to avoid it :(

Thanks

there's no need really, unless you bounce your 450D off walls. The piece of plastic already on there is a shield and can be replaced if it gets broken.

I was going to start this thread yesterday when browsing Amazon, but then thought stuff it so bought one anyway.

The one I bought was the GGS screen protector and was a tenner. If it turns out to be complete pants then its only a tenner. But if it works then its win win

I have bought the GGS for my old 50D, I got 2 in the pack for each screen.

I found them easy to apply and they seemed to stay on ok. When applying I used a credit card to smooth out any bubbles.

The thing is a Canon replacement screen cover is only a tenner or so, so to me why bother, if and it's a big if the screen gets scratched, just buy a genuine Canon part.

I didnt even know you could do that. I just thought that the screen was the screen, if that makes sense.

Ahh well

I would guess most people think the same, I did at first.

The part for a 30D $12 and $2 for the sticky tape.

And the bit you'd need, again from a 30D

I hasten to add this is NOT from my 30D but a shot I found on flickr :) Now you can't do this with the new 3 inch Clear View II LCD screen on a 7D as it's made as a solid structure screen, designed to combat glare by removing the air-gap between the LCD’s protective cover and the liquid crystal.

Put a GGS on my 450D and it is fine. No bubbles as it is a rigid screen, not a film. Think I paid £6 for mine.

How easy is it to change the screen if it gets scratched etc then? Does it get scratched easily? I don't like these plastic screen protectors I have. Can I D.I.Y the screen myself or do I have to get Canon to do it?

So how do you get the genuine Canon screen protector off? Does it just peel off?

trencheel303, re-iterating those replies hasn't answered the question which I asked so saying them again as if I didn't read it first time wasn't really the answer. I asked

- Does it scratch easily?
- Can I D.I.Y the screen myself?
- Or do Canon have to do it?

That image from the 30D catalogue just shows where the parts are situated, not how to remove them or install them.

The first quote you did from whiteflyer didn't really help either, that just tells me to buy a Canon part.

I was asking about the installation of the product. Maybe I took your reply the wrong way but you were implying I didn't read what was written in the first place.
