450d RAW problem

Help, I have a new 450d, and it will not capture in L + Raw, or Raw only, just takes jpeg images instead.
Something very strange going on it has more images available in Raw than in M (mediumsize) .
With the help of JGS001 on the phone have tried most things but no luck.
Has anyone met this problem before.
Any ideas welcome please:bang::bang::bang:

Raw will not work in auto mode, so first that's the first thing to check.
 
Barry, I spent a while with Trudie on the phone. The camera does not appear to be capturing data in RAW at all. We went through the various modes, and even the number of shots available in each mode varied... in Green square mode it was something like 170, in any of the other auto modes it was about 330, all with Large JPG selected, this is using the same 1Gb card which had been formated prior to the tests. Setting to the creative modes, the number of files storable, reported for RAW was less than RAW plus jpg which is just wrong, and in fact, on RAW the camera reported a silly count of possible shots for only a 1Gb card... from memory it was more than I get out of an 8Gb card.
 
Yes, as Barrysprout says, make sure the camera isn't set in an auto mode. Only works in creative modes.
 
It possible to try another SD card?
This sound rather strange and file storage report doesn't make sense.

Chaz, I know that's why personally I use raw only without jpg to save space. But Trudie's camera is doing something very odd. That's what the camera is actually reporting rather than what is actually possible. I find it very odd that it's reporting more raw's on a 1 gb card than I can get on a 2gb card and yet it's the same model.
 
Thanks for your help all, unfortunatley camera appears to have a fault going back today for refund as they no longer stock, need to start again looking for best price.

HI , I brought a 450d a few weeks ago and couldnt capture raw images ,it was only when i put it in the creative mode and then went to the menu and when it was set to "L" i scrolled across to the right and found the raw image setting , also when i did take photos it only showed them in normal jpeg format on my windows picture gallery until i installed a plug-in ,i didn't put the proper canon eos software on until today and that shows both formays now.hope you get it sorted out and if you all ready knew what i said ,it is only because i have just started out and had the same problem
 
How are you getting the images from your camera? I vaguely remember that if I hooked my 450d up to the computer and opened it from My Computer like I would a memory stick the RAW images were nowhere to be seen. If I downloaded with Canon's software they were all present and accounted for.
