guys i'm wondering how i get my flash to fire in quick succession, in short sharp bursts, I have had it but dont know how i done it

any help in getting back there

cant look at manual its in loft with box :bonk:
 
There should be a button on there that has 3 triangles pointing to the right...or at least my 580 does anyway! That is burst mode :)
 
Is that not for 2nd curtain symc?

Do you mean like a strobe effect?
 
Are you sure that it wasn't the preflash you were seeing before you took your exposures? I don't think the 430 EX II has a burst mode. I may be wrong of course.
 
If you press your D-O-F preview button on the camera (on the front of the camera below the lens release button) if fires off loads of flashes consecuatively.
 
The 430 EXII doesn't have stroboscopic mode.
But if you do as J4MIE_P says in his post its sort of a work around.

Or do you mean you want it to fire in continuous shooting mode ( ie 3.5 frame per sec) with each shot ? The only way to do this is to turn the flash output power down

yeah, i want it how you described, when i shoot 3.5FPS i want it to flash each frame, so output power reduced should give me this?

Set the mode to manual, 1/2 will give you 2 in a row 1/4 gives you 3
I suppose it will also depend on how charged and what capacity batteries you are using.

Lower power, and fresh batteries. The closer your batteries are to being done, the longer recycling takes.
