weird goings on with my 430ex, during a shoot the other day, my 430ex started randomly flashing like a strobe ! thought it was batteries so put fresh batteries in, still the same, i also noticed the length of time for recharge increased, any ideas anyone ?
 
Are you certain you didn't accidentally press the depth of field preview button next to the lens by mistake. It will give this effect and yes it will drain the power of your strobe quite dramatically.
 
:lol: caught me out a few times when I first brought my flash too... I remember being quite worried that I had broken something at the time.. :$ Now get back out there and have some fun...lol

OH and don't forget to share the images with us...if you can that is. ;)
 
I did the same when I got mine, but I was holding the camera, facing me admiring the purchase - at point blank range when it went off. :(
