With a trip to Fuerteventura next week and my daughters 1st birthday party looming, I'm suffering from a bad attack of GAS !

Has anyone paired the 40mm pancake with a 5D2 ? What do you reckon to it ?

Cheers

Tony

I have heard that the pancake lens is a very good treatment for GAS, albeit only temporary! ;)

Any decent new piece of kit will be at least a temporary cure (or at least a placebo!) for GAS. There's no permanent cure though but a good supply of folding can at least keep the toys coming!

Enjoy the young'un's birthday and the trip.

Best cure for GAS is to make a list of all the things you want, prioritise them then buy them :). Once you have everything the GAS goes away ;)

A 40mm on my 5D looks totoally stupid. Works well though. :)

I had it on the mk111 fantastic lens for the money, but yep it looks silly on these big cams. in use made a great walk around combo

I have the nifty fifty, but it's too big for close quarters imo... about to cure myself I think !

That's just it... it's about treatment and syndrome management, not curing!

I occasionally use the wife's 40mm pancake on my 5D3 and 70D and find it's a great little lens. With the 70D I get the bonus of STM ability for any video work too.

Ordered from Jessops yesterday afternoon, just arrived.... grey and black packaging not red/white, Made in Malaysia ? is this kosher ?

Seems to be where they're made.

Mind you, a 40mm pancake is a bit small - hardly big enough to wrap around a stalk of asparagus!

Just bought 2 extenders from Canon (2x and 1.4x) and one was in a grey/black box and the other was white/black/red so maybe its new packaging?

i love the 40mm i havent got one but used one before and thought it was very subtle and lightweight :) perfect for travel

Yeah, the weight was the thing that surprised me, almost feels as if there's no lens on the body.
