Hi, My new 40D is stuck writing 4 images to the card.
I have tried to turn it off but it says "recording remaining images".

It could be a problem with the card as it's had problems in the past. Is it safe to either pull out the battery or the cf card as the camera is basically stuck doing this...? (I don't care if the images on the card are lost - will reformat it any way).

If you open the CF card cover the images should be deleted from the buffer straight away which should allow you to resume normal service.

or just take the battery out - tis what I do if nothing else works :p

I wouldn't reformat the card I would bin it if it's done that before or change it if it's still under warranty.

Thanks M2K this had me worried for the last half hour. I think the problem lies with the Lexar 2gb card I have, I bought this card off a photography forum S/H and have had a few problems with it and have to reformat it every time which I have just had to do again. I think it needs to be binned before I lose some images that can't be replaced.

Everything ticketyboo now, that is except the card.

Cheers Mal.

Seeing as it had spent nearly 1/2 an hour attempting to write 4 images I would have thought it should have shown up as an error:shrug:.

Anyway it is now binned and I am down to only 512mg as my other 2gb card is loaned to my son:(.

I've never had any problems with CF cards thankfully although I do carry 2 cards around with me at all times just incase. Also if im shooting anything important I normally switch cards during the day.
