I thought I would cheer myself up a bit yesterday, so I went into Jessops for a laugh. They actually had a 40D in, so I got them to let me have a little play.
First impressions, it is nice. I have a 400D + grip. The 400D I feel needs the grip on as it makes it a lot nicer to hold and it gives it a felling of balance. The 40D was nice to hold as is, and the weight I would guess to be slightly less than my combo. I could not believe the difference that larger screen makes. I know the icons are lager, but it seems to be a lot clearer. Never having a LCD on the top shoulder, having one like on the 40D to me seems a hell of a lot better to use to view your settings than having to chimp all the time.
I just might have to think about flogging my 400D and bits and purchase one of these little darlings. I think that the features available will help me in the type of shots I will be working my way to making in the future as I gain more experience.

Thats my little take on this piece of kit.

Cheerz:thumbs:

had mine a couple weeks now,got it to replace my 20D..which on using the 40D makes me want to sell 20D..
not as good as me 5D though:nono:

I got my mits on a 40D yesterday....a one hour swap for my 5D. Seems to be a well thought out bit of kit and a good upgrade from a 400D or a 20D but not enough to bother about ditching the 30D's and spending the extra.

Had mine a week and enjoying it - glad i did not trad in my 350D as the new toy has been playing up for no apparent reason and is due to be exchanged. When it works it is super and a great improvement over the 350D - possibly may have not moved up from a 400D for a while. The lack of clatter from the 350 shutter is great as is the screen and viewfinder. First kid shoot with it had the punter happy with little or no correction in photoshop so colour and metering look good.
