40D look!

Wow! Very cool. Not really it'd fit in my camera bag though ;)

You've gotta say, that's a pretty clever modification! I wonder if CT will try that with his Gimbal so that he can get some birds higher up in the trees?

Does JumboBeef not do something like this?
Sure I saw it somewhere, goes off to look:yes he does, got a large mast on the back of his Landy

If you read further down the link, the guy also has a G9 mounted on a toy helicopter.

Ah awesome

Now where is that broom handle

This is very cool indeed, but not something I can see myself lugging to the next shoot - I'd need to trade the car in for a Van by the looks of it!

CREATIVE!

funny you should mention a 40D on a stick, there was a chap photographing a old mill outside my work last week using one of those (except his was a
D300 on a stick - traitor to canon)

LOL its hardly a toy helicopter!

Great stuff with the 40D! I'd love a go on the 'helicam' too

thats the dogs nuts that, bet he can get some really good shots with it.
to much money and time :( i want i want

Thats some damn impressive stuff ! I just would have climbed a tree.

I've only just seen this thread :bonk:

Interesting set up on the head he has there, but by God it's large! My head set up is half the size and weight of that.

And another thing:

.....these free standing tri or quadpods are an accident just waiting to happen! :cuckoo: You have to extend the mast by hand, and many of these masts don't have end stops so you can extend one section right out of the other, and over it goes. If you don't guy it down really tight, or the slightest bit of wind, over it goes.

Scarey stuff!

If health & safety get a hold of this they will insist a 50m barriered off area and anyone inside will have to wear a safety helmet and hi-viz vest :rules:

nice idea:)
Comparing to this our manfrotto tripods for speakers at work (they go high for 4meters) look tiny :bonk:

Well, I do wear a safety helmet and a hi-viz vest (when working on a roadside). I do cone off the area around as well.

These cheap masts are just poles connected together with a heavy and sharp camera/head on top. They'll kill someone one day :shake:
