40d is dead

My Wifes 40d show no power at all, she used it last week in Norfolk (may have left it switched on, not sure) came to use is this week and its dead:thumbsdown: Anyone help with this? Tried newly charged batteries, changed the small inner battery, changed lens, tried with no lens, but not a glimmer.
 
Is that another set of batteries or the same one recharged?

Have you cleaned the contacts in the camera and the battery? Use a contact cleaner or meths if you don't have any.

Thanks for your quick reply. They are different batteries. I will try to clean the contacts:thumbs:
 
Worth checking / replacing the small button battery as well - just in case, although I think this holds on to the memory, rather than playing a part with the camera booting up...
 
I have just cleaned the battery and camera contacts, also took the button battery out of a 20d still no joy:(

Sounds like it may need a repair then - I think there is a small fuse on one of the boards that can go and the camera doesn't boot up...
 
How long did you leave all the batteries out for, give it at least 30 minutes and try again.
 
A quick google suggests it maybe the power board thats gone - I think there is a small fuse on it - the DC-DC board I think...

Thanks guys for your replies, I guess I need a repair. I have used Fixation in the past are they the best or would you recommend another company?

Worth asking how much and giving Canon at Elstree a bell and asking how much ...
 
Canon sometimes quote a one price for any repair/service, if they do its worth getting the shutter replaced at the same time if you can
