Hi,

Got my new 40D a couple of weeks ago and have taken a few nice shots in Cornwall. I set up the camera to shoot large jpeg+RAW. However when downloading through the microsoft camera wizard it only seems to be downloading the jpegs. When I look at the preferences on the 40 D icon on 'My computer' it shows two files for each shot but they're both labelled as jpeg? ...any ideas how I can access and download the Raw files?...is the system just not recognising the RAW format? Any help would be much appreciated.

my dads laptop did this to me once when on holiday, it was a pain in the arse! came to the conclusion that the camera wizard thing was a pile of poo! :( sorry that aint much help.

Yeah, I reckon Windows XP camera wizard is a pile of poo when it comes to RAW. Use the DPP software tat came with your camera (also go to the canon website as there is a newer version of DPP available with highlight/shadow warning)

Use the EOS Utility software (that comes with the camera too) to download your RAW files and DPP will open automatically and away you go, some nice editing tools for your RAW files.

Simple, don't be disheartened with your lack of success so far, the Canon software is really good and you will easily get the hang of it.

You need to down load the files from the card in to a folder on your PC. It seems that you can't veiw the RAW images directly from the card, they need to be on the PC. Then view them using Zoom Browzer which came with your camera.
