Long story short; was shooting some cityscapes off the tripod using live view, battery ran out and when replaced the camera gave the above message.
Bit of a brown trouser moment as half my holiday shots were on there.. removed and replaced the battery and got the same message, did the same with the card and all was well again.
Was shooting on an practically new Extreme 3 8Gb card which had been formatted in camera prior to use.
I've never had a similar problem in the past and havn't tried to recreate it.. I'm thinking / hoping that it's a glitch perculiar to the factors involved (LV + Battery failure etc) rather than a sign of impending knackerage.
The shutter cound has just rolled over 20k and the camera has been faultless otherwise.
Has anyone else had this before / have any thoughts?
Cheers
