Prices on eBay appear to be coming down! Just seen two 400mm f/2.8 non-IS go for £1830 and £1,900. An IS version reached £2,801. All three sellers had 100% and a long track record of sales.

the thing is that the 2 which went for £1830 and £1900, if i am not mistaken happened to be mk1 version of the 400 f2.8, the mark2 versions seem to be bringing more, because of the age and optical quality, compared to the mark1's
