Well, I'm new to the DSLR lark, but I'm already thinking ahead!
I was happy enough with the EF-S 18-55mm lens that came with my camera (before it broke  see other thread!).
However, thinking ahead to April, I'll be getting £1k for some web design work. Now, the immediate temptation is to go out and get a super-duper L glass lens, but in all honesty, that would be completely wasted on me, given that I'm completely new to the intricacies of DSLRs.
So, given that the kit lens will be good enough for general mucking around and scoping, I'm going to get a nifty-fifty for the portrait stuff that I need to do at work. However, I also want a good tele lens, as I loved capturing (or at least trying to!) animals, insects and flowers with my compact, and so a decent tele would let me do that at the next level.
Has anyone got any suggestions for a non-budget tele that would let me do this.. or am I just being stupid and should I get some L glass, a lens being for life and what not?
