400d battery grip recommendation

I would deffinately recommend the canon. Ive had mine for a few months and it makes the camera feel so much more solid and more comfortable to hold. The cheapest i can find, according to camera price buster, is £74.99 at 7 day shop.

There is quite a few threads on this topic, and most of them all seem to be a split between the unofficial ones and the Canon branded ones. I ordered a Canon BG-E3 yesterday so just waiting for it to arrive now. Can't wait. Either way I think it's an almost essential piece of kit.

deffo the canon one.

Yep, ditto on the Canon one. Had a look at an aftermarket one but it didn't feel as well built as Canon's. Worth the extra cash. But, check out the other threads...

I bought a non-Canon one off an Ebay seller in Hong Kong and it is as good as the official one my cousin bought. We put them side by side, the grip shape is identical but only small things like the battery flap made the defference.

The feel of the shutter release button was not as good but then it was half the price. I bought it for more battery power and to improve the hold on the camera and for that I have no complaints.

Agree with the above I have the canon grip and it improves the feel and having the shutter release is just about a must when shooting in portrait..............well worth having IMHO

I got a non-Canon one and is brilliant. Has all the usual main function buttons but also has a digital display with extra features. One in particular I like is the digital shutter release timer which extends beyond 30 seconds to 99 hours (I think) making it a bit more flexible than using a manual remote shutter lock or bulb function if you want super long exposures.

Cost £60 and here's one: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LCD-Timer-Bat...ryZ48516QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I have them on my bodies, I have large hands anyway, but I find them a joy to use, I prefer a wrist strap and can highly recommend the Canon E1 even with a big lens it makes the use so muh easier:thumbs:

The Canon one you can use in several different modes, so you can draw power from both batteries at the same time, just one battery therefore holding one in reserve or even use the insert and power it with pencells, hope that helps:thumbs::wave:
