Hi all,

My wife has notoriously ordered an odd shaped & sized photo frame from M&S (so much for a contemporary look).

The problem is I am struggling to print photo sized 4 x 4. Have tried cropping etc. on PS, but in vain. Haven't really found any decent answers on google.

Please help..things I have are PS elements 3, HP photosmart plus printer, 5 x 7, 4 x 6 & A4 photo papers (not sure if A4 sized photo paper is of any use?)

Thanks in advance.

In PS Elements you can crop your photo with the crop tool to whatever size you need. Choose the crop tool and insert the dimensions you need in the measurement boxes i.e 4in x 4in. Set the resolution to 300. Now make your selection with the crop tool and then re-position the box where you want it. Right click and you then have your cropped image. For ease of use, I would use your A4 photo paper to print. It saves messing with too many printer functions. Select image, print in PS and then choose your print options in the dialogue box - depending on whether you use printer profiles or not. For a trial print, you may want to let your printer manage the colours, so choose this. Then choose print and select whatever options you need in the HP print dialogue. I'm not familiar with your printer so can't advise you on that. Once you've got an 'ok' trial print, the right size etc. you can play with printer profiles etc.

steel ruler, scalpel or stanley knife, cutting board, and just print it on a 6x4 and cut two inches off one end :)

Bingo!! Spot on...got it finally...thanks a ton, wasn't putting the size on for cropping..

Then for some reason it wasn't working with 5 x 7 paper. It was printing 5 x 5s. But once I changed it to 4 x 6, I got it finally.

Thanks for your input.
