I know how much everyone likes a good copyright thread, so here's another one to entertain for five minutes.

Janine 'Jah Jah' Gordon, tried, and failed, to sue Ryan McGinley for a reported $4.5 million for 'copying' up to 150 of her photographs.

That's the same Jah Jah who sued 50 Cent and Dr Dre for stealing her lyrics, and made a series of bizarre claims over artists singing about her (when they weren't). Along with claiming that covering a song released in 1976 (by Rod Stewart) is stealing from her. :cuckoo:

Always interesting to see the 'interesting' ways some people go about constructing a career.

I like this quote from her (on Facebook, according to The Observer) about ending the dispute...

“I hope I can do it legally—because if it comes down to physically stopping him—he is going to get hurt—the gangsters and thugs in many of [my] photos are my friends… ”

Uh-huh

What a nut case. I guess her plan is to try it on enough times that she'll eventually win a few quid.

The lengths people will go to. How about working hard instead?

Nope. Wrong lifestyle. The youth these days seem to expect everything given to them and immediately. I blame us parents (plus Internet-everything is immediate)

I think that's an extremely sweeping and unfair generalisation. And even even if that was the case, it's far far more complicated that blame-the-parents-and-the-internet.
