3TB External Hard Drive £26!

to be honest it escapes me why anyone thought this would be worth a punt - it couldnt be any more clear that it was con if it had " I'm a con" written on it in day glo marker

in short you arent going to get your money back - and you arent going to see any goods - look on it as a life lesson in how not to be gullible....

(those labouring under the misaprehension that they'll get the money back from paypal , would be well asdvised to read up on how these scammers exploit the loop holes)

To be honest I agree with you it screamed scam
I just wasn't sure how it would work tho as paypal would just refund the buyers
 
basically the scammers will delay for ages then dispatch a chinese coin, or a stone or an empty packet or whatever - most people will sign for it without checking , and the scammers will then claim that they did despatch the goods

paypal won't be able to prove anything either way and won't be that interested in helping , plus by the time the scammers have finished stalling they'll have drained the paypal account and disapeared into the ether - only to set up or hijack a new email/ebay/paypal acount and do it again

Getting a bit dodgy on eBay have to be really careful
 
if you get parcel open it infront postman. looks like many received balance/rubber band !!!
 
Apart from the too good to be true price , the first pages of positive feedback were obviously dodgy

It wasn't to start with. You can't sell anything when your feedback is private.

I too am stunned that people thought they could get £140 of genuine Seagate from China for £26 shipped.

I know it's harsh but you deserve to get fleeced, if you are that stupid.

I did have an email today from a Mr Charles Soludo, a barrister in Lagos, Nigeria. He has a slight issue with $28,000,000 left in Diana, Princess of Wales's estate and would like some financial assistance.

Shall I forward it on to you? (I am too busy creating the universes first Athiest space church to help him!)

Cheap hard drives? I reckon nothing turning up is the probably the second best outcome, next to not ordering at all of course.

Can you imagine the hassle when they started to fail?

You could say they did everyone a favour - better to lose £26 outright than have a drive fail in use, taking up to 3TB of data with it. :gag:

That said, I hope everyone gets their cash back although I see the scammers are now getting cleverer and Paypal refunds can't always be taken for granted.

i hope you're right baz - but i have a nasty suspicion that this will turn on proving the item was not as described - the scammer will swear blind that they send a hard drive and alledge that the buyer must be trying it on (that assumes they havent already disapeared completely of course - if they have pay pal will be even more reluctant to pay out as they have no way of recovvering their money)
 
Yeh, possibly. But it looks like there will be lots of buyers with the same complaint and that will, or should, put Feebay/Praypal in the picture.

I've been instructed by Ebay, to return the item, then the seller will make a refund. How am I suppose to do that it the seller is no longer registered on Ebay :thinking::(
 
Just escalate it explaining that there is no way to return the item to the address given as the post office do not know how to direct it, I got my money back today.
