3rd Party 60D grip

When I upgraded from the 450D to the 50D I didnt bother with the weight, now I am missing that nice chunkiness thats easy to grip and nice to hold. Anyone try out a 3rd party grip for the 60D? If so what make? How much?

Can't afford the original. :P

Meike grips get decent reviews.

bestofferbuy (HK) is where I got one. Be prepared to wait for a fortnight or so for delivery.
 
Not sure where you live, but I got a Meike from Amazon for about £30 and it seems pretty solid. (Sold by Neewer)
 
I've not used one, but the Meike grips appear to be well reviewed - might be worth a look.

Alternatively, the genuine Canon ones, do appear 2nd hand on occasions.

Just to double check it's not a typo, have you upgraded from the 50D to the 60D ?
 
I bought a Meike grip for the 60D off ebay a few weeks ago and it's superb. I've had Meike grips on a 7D and a 5D2 as well and they have all worked flawlessly. Dougster, I notice you have 'magic lantern' on your 60D. I've never tried it but have been wondering if it's worth getting for my 60D and the wifes 550D. What are the plusses of installing it. Sorry to hijack the thread a little.

modchild is that definitely a Meike grip? The description doesn't say so.

ML is easy to install although I did reinstall Canon 1.1.0 firmware first then put ML on my card.

I haven't used it much yet but it looks superb for video (one of the reasons I went for the 60D an Rode Video Mic Pro)

Yeah I was wondering too. It looks like a canon one, of course its not like.

Thanks for the link. Are you happy with the build quality? Tell me more I am very interested. Hijack away :) I am only wondering now what a magic lantern is ha ha.

Just an update, I ordered one off Amazon looks the exact same as Modchild's in the photos. I'll let you know what I think. Thanks for the replies everyone. :)
 
The one I got from HK was the wrong one (my fault I think)

It's been 3 weeks since I sent it back with no sign. :( My postmaster thinks it may have gone by land and sea so looking for one more local!! :D

Did you send it by recorded mail. Otherwise ebay returns policy is not valid. I got stung before!
 
Hahnel hc-60d excellent fit and excellent customer service. Replaced my remote switch free of charge after 2 years. Well out if warranty. Offices in Ireland and very responsive.

I didn't get it from e-bay.

I have filled in a Post Office form and they want a copy of of email correspondence with seller.
 
Sod it, I've ordered the Amazon one (which I should have gone for in the first place).

Hopefully the one heading back to HK turns up.

Mine has arrived. It feels nice and solid. ;)
 
Mine arrived too, really happy with it. The battery indicators work perfect with it. Very pleased.
 
Mines a Mieke from Amazon, not sure if its genuine. Does the job though.
 
Just an update. I have had the grip a year and its working perfect. Sees shocking to me how anyone without an unlimited budget one spend one on the genuine article. Youd be far better off spending it on something else.
