I bought one of these a while back as I was sure i must need one :-)
(you know the feeling)
Anyways I have just got this out to try and use it.I am having a problem getting the flash to fire. I am using the 580 ex on the end of the lead set to ettl mode, Camera in Manual set to 1/200th sync speed.I can hear the zoom head moving when I zoom the camers lens plus the range distance/ aperture on the back of the flashes lcd is working but the flash will not fire.

Am I doing something wrong ?
Help please?

Sounds like dodgy contacts, possibly dirty, or not seated properly. If sorting that doesn't work, could be dry solder joints inside the cord. It's been known.

Presumably there's no problem when the flash in on-camera?

Yep flash fires ok on top of the camera.Sounds like I should bin it :-)
Will teach me to use stuff before it runs outta warranty.

Rang Amazon tonight and they are giving me a refund.
Well pleased with that.Course I shall buy another one, is there any other brand that does these my searches seem to throw up the lastolite ones all the time.

Personally I use the Yongnuo one, it seems pretty solid and I was scared of the reviews of some of the "no name" ones where people had to rip them apart to get them to come off :-o

Mine is only 1.5m, but they do longer ones.
