Does anyone know if this should be on all the time as my new phone seems to want it on, even when I disconect it after about 30 seconds its back on:thinking:

it's a data carrier, if you want to use mobile internet, email and text it needs to be on.

you might lose 3g in some areas and find it's replaced by edge or gprs instead, same thing...just slower

I know its the data carrier but should it read 3G or 3G with the two arrow things one left and one right just below it...........seems to be on all the time, I have given Virgin a call and the lady at the other end simply didnt have a clue as to what I was explaining so she put me on hold and came back to let me know that no data was being transmitted and I should simply remove the battery for a few seconds:thinking:

I sometimes get a H signal on my Hero - what's all that about???

on my old nokia smartpone the lines under the 3g were to indicate when you had a data connection running
they were either two lines unbroken or two lines with like two forward slashes through them

3G with two solid arrows underneath = A UMTS packet data connection is active
3G with broken lines in the arrow = a connection is available

Another good thing is "I can see my bill online" so if it starts to go a bit high I will give Virgin another call just to be on the safe side.
My bill is currently at 70p and looking at it in depth shows the internet usage is not being charged but any text message I get from Nokia or ovi that contain a link they ask me to click seems to charge me 10p when I click it, so now I have turned off these notifications and the texts have stopped and my bill hasnt gone up anymore no matter what I do, text, or call other networks.
So in theory my first bill on this new tarrif should be £30.70p..........lets see:thumbs:

Thats odd that it seems to charge when you click the link...it shouldn't do as you are simply clicking a link...

When I click on the link it sends a text message to Nokia who then send me another one back but I turned this off and now all seems to be fine all that changes are my allowances as I try to use it all with little success as theres a lot to use up haha
