Daily 365 Photos 2013.

I rather like this, must admit I've never used a Lensbaby. Did you crop it at all?

Thanks guys. Nope, no crop. Technically I should love it... it's right up my street. I just... don't :\ this is the 3rd time it's been used and I'm disliking it more with each use.

Those cats are... goddamn ugly! I want one.

Good on your hubby. I was lucky to get my other half to pose a couple of days ago, it's difficult when you naturally like people shots and you don't have models.

Anyway, I agree on the whole lens baby thing. I have one and rarely use it. I've tried, taken 2 shots I'm moderately unembarrassed about, I just don't get it. I do quite like your shot with it though, better than any I've taken!

I like it! Sorry to hear you aren't getting along with the Lensbaby - I hate it when I know I should love something and it just doesn't happen.

Going to have to look into this lensbaby thing, know nothing about it.
Good emphasis on your focal point today Toni.

My husband is a good egg! Which one do you have? I don't think I'm going to get it sold... I wouldn't even know what price to put it up for as there's so few in the classifieds. I should have gone for the Spark then would only be a few quid down, not £120~! It's a shame. I've seen some amazing results but I just don't have the ability to make it do what it's supposed to! Trying to think of where else I could sell it. Don't like ebay.. so many people claiming something and then having to give a full refund etc when they're lying :(

Thanks Phil :) I think the Lensbaby is very "marmite". It should be RIGHT up my street but I'm just not getting to grips with it

Lovely shot Toni (as usual) :D Never heard of a Lensbaby so going to have to look that one up

I've missed some gorgeous shot's Toni.. or i think i have...:( i am getting so lost and confused with what i have seen already and what i haven't so i am sorry..... tho i think i am getting slowly round to liking on fb... i think.. maybe... arghhhhhh

ANyway you are doing amazingly well in this 365 and producing some really beautiful shots... do you just use your 50mm for hand held? it's annoying me because my lens just won't let me:(

Thank you Carol :D They're not everyones cup of tea but given my love of the different, more "fun" aspect of photography.... I should be in my element

Thank you T!! Yep, the 50mm is the only lens I have (other than the kit lens and that only goes to 3.5 so no good for most of my shots!) and I don't have a tripod. I have to REALLY stretch my arm as far in front of me as it'll go, hold the camera as far away in my hand as possible whilst still being able to focus and push the button then stretch my neck up and back. Stretching it up is usually a no no in portraits as it makes you look like a giraffe but I find it doesn't in 50mm portraits; it simply removes the "double chin" pushing your head back produces

For handhelds with the 50mm, I have to take it off back button focusing and go back to focusing with the shutter button so I can literally hold the camera in my finger tips.

I have the Composer. It gives a bit more control over fixing it in a place, but it just doesn't suit my style of photography. The only 2 shots I wasn't embarrassed to upload are these 2 here and here. And that was after taking about 60 or 70 shots with it! 2 out of 60 just isn't a good ratio. Haven't taken it out since that day. I might experiment with flowers or something again, I dunno, we'll see.

Ah so even more expensive than my Muse! Eep! I love the first one you took. Even having the ability to fix it in place wouldn't help me... I just can't get to grips with how it works so struggle to get it in focus at all haha I really do want to like it... I just can't :gag: 9 photos in my set... 5 of them are of the contents of the box and lens taken with my 50mm   http://www.flickr.com/photos/foreverisnever/sets/72157632435177712/

First one isn't bad, but focus was on the guy rather than the girl. I just find it so difficult to tell and just what's gonna come out when I press the shutter!

I really like your paper bird shot actually, that's quite nice. Looking at the others you seem to have the same struggle that I do. I just can't match up the lens with a shot

Yeah, with the Muse the focus looks perfect through the viewfinder/screen but then I press the shutter and it's not even close to sharp  I use it one handed because, when using both hands, the fingers on my right hand would tense as I pressed the shutter making the focus off anyway so that's not the issue! :bonk: I just want it to go to someone who's actually going to get *some* enjoyment out of it.

I think that works rather well, I know what you mean though about not getting the most out of things, I've got a lot of kit that only get's used every so often

Thanks Matt. But do you enjoy the kit when you do get it out?

Checked Amazon and realised the Muse is still able to be returned... so it's packaged and ready to be picked up on the 24th. Tempted to get a "new" Oly Trip (I already have one...), skin and ever ready case with part of the refund :naughty:

Result! Wish I could do the same with mine...

 after they take the money for postage off me, I'll only see £108 of it but it's more than I'd get selling it so I'm happy enough :D

Day 23. by Toni Darling Photos, on Flickr

Not sure how I feel about this one

Thanks Colin. I think the fact it's not my usual type is what's making me unsure!

i like the por trait of your OH (?) Well I Hope so, before I upset anyone :)

Its a fun, without being silly image, and there is a very fine line between the two with you have drawn and drawn well

I like it very much (not quite as much as the one through the window, but I still like it) - I did think your watermark was a blob on his top for a minute! :D

Haha yeah, my husband :p Thank you

Hahah! Thank you! I bloody hate that watermark

I like it too (i think it's his glasses that does it for me)

Thanks :D They're prop from our wedding photos

I really want to go and get my Oly Trip looked at to see if it still works. The only shop we have around here charges £60 to buy a dented, scratched Trip; I don't want to think about what he'd charge to just look at it

He also sold me a "tested and repaired" polaroid for 80 quid a couple of years back (I was desperate for it THAT day... so much so I didn't care about saving ~£60 and buying on ebay!). It didn't work at all. :bonk:

I have film here so I suppose I could just run a film through it, photos of anything, and get it developed? Wonder if supermarkets still do cheap dev + CD...

still a good shot Toni :) Looks like he is waiting patiently (in hope) for some sunshine with those glasses on

I quite like it - it's the contrast of piercings and the daft glasses, make him look vulnerable IYSWIM

Thanks Sarah! I get what you mean

I'm liking this Toni ....

Thank you :D :D

Day 24. by Toni Darling Photos, on Flickr

Well, today's was a challenge! 3 separate photos and about an hour in photoshop and snapseed later and I'm quite happy. My PS skills could do with improving but isn't that the point? :)

Thanks Sarah :D My background separation skills need a LOT of work but I think the hanging Diana really helped this image.

its a great clever shot :D

Looks pretty good to me, love the expression on your face :)
