Hello all,

In the process of setting up a darkroom setup. However, I was wondering, rather than me buy ''35mm film rolls'' is it possible to buy like ''long strips of 35mm film'' that I can roll into my own canisters, then use to create my exposures, I hear this would be a lot cheaper than simply buying say 5 packs of Ilford etc

If so, where could I begin to look, UK here.

Many thanks, Steve.

AG photographic and silverprint are good places to start with bulk film. Post in film and conventional and you will find lots of useful info and film types!

Would be better if you had a bulk loader and a batch of re-loadable canisters.

Using silver print as an example 36exp roll of HP5+ is £5.70 and a 30m bulk roll is £57.20.

Something like fomapan 400 is about £45 and EdBray got some 'ultrafine 400' which isn't bad stuff and I think was pretty affordable.

How is the fomapan quality - any link to images? - looks a great price for 20 rolls

Silverprint knock 20% off when you buy 10 or more rolls of ilford.

Dont forget to buy a bulk film loader too, this will be easier than cutting up a long strip in your darkroom as you can do it in daylight.
