Hello all,

I have a 350D that I've killed through lack of care and water... so need to replace it, I was happy with the shots the 350D produced, I'm only a very lazy photographer so everything was mainly on auto, want to get a bit more into it as it were and maybe start doing things manual so was looking at a 40D to get me on my way, I have £300 to replace the body, is the 40D my best option?

Any ideas welcomed!

That was my logic, seems the 40D might be the best option for my budget.

Although I've never had or used a 40D I have seen plenty of photos from them and they look great. MPB have got a bunch of 40D's in at the moment starting from around £300 so it might be worth checking them out. I was going to get a 40D as backup to my 5D3 but ended up getting a 60D instead, one of the reasons was it takes the same battery as the 5D3 (and I had plenty of them from selling a 5D2 and 7D to get the 5D3). Going from a 350D will seem a good upgrade, not only in features, but build quality and ergonomics will be better as well.

I have had a 40D for almost 5 years. Its a nice camera, and as has been said above a good step up from your old 350D (I used to have a 400D). As well as MPB Photographic, I can also recommend Aperture (www.apertureuk.com ) in London, who also sell secondhand equipment, from a shop and online. I bought a second hand 1DMarKIV off them last year and am very happy with it. Both shops seem to be selling 40D's for around £300-320 and they both offer 6 month guarantees on their equipment

Just committed to buying a 40D and 50mm lens with 5K actuations for £330 del from AVForums..

:D

I do not have access to that page sadly CaptainPenguin

I will try my hardest indeed! see if I can get more use from it than I did my 350D
