Yes
I've fairly recenty bought myself a 40D. So the 350D have had for a couple of years now almost permanently lives in a draw upstairs. It's unlikely that I'll use it again.

So...

It would make perfect sence to sell it while it's still a reasonably up to date camera and still worth a few quid. What I want to know is:

Why can't I bring myself to sell the thing? :-(

cos your lazy? :D

hehe - I still use my 350D alongside my 40D a fair bit. It is really usefull to have a second body sometimes I think. Maybe your brain knows you will have a need for a second body sometime soon? :p

my camera s 350d and im a beginner, i think 350d is great! :)

I've loved my 350D and have taken great shots with it. In fact, I agonised over why I was buying the 40D. But got it anyway.

omg! cant resist to say it, ive just ordered a Sigma 105mm Macro woooooooooooooo!!!

I've never had 2 bodies and somehow can't see myself using it. I only eber go out with the 40D these days.

if you use a tool to help you create some art that you are deeply emotionally involved in, it's all too easy to develop an illogical attachment to it.

I hate selling any camera or lens that I've really enjoyed using. The fact that it might be of almost no use to me anymore make no difference at all.

I suspect you're right. The camera I had before the 350 was a Canon AE1 I bought in the 70's. It's on a shelf a bit like an ornament! And I sort of wish I still had the Zenith EM I had before the AE1.

Us photographers need a "check up from the neck up" thinks me. :-)

I've got kind of the same problem!

I want to upgrade from my 350D to possibly a 5D, selling my 350D will mean I get funds towards the new body quicker, but I want to keep the 350D as well!

As my first DSLR I've grown attached to it!

:lol::lol::lol:

Not a single "what was your first camera" or "how did you get into photography" thread goes by without raising a pang for my zenith.

Which as all of us who started our 35mm lives with one know, was an appalling piece of cheap engineering coupled with even worse glass.

But didn't you just love it and wouldn't you still like to have one now. I've no idea what the hell for of course, but go on sir, do you want it?

This thread has got me all nostalgic. First slr was a Zenith......26 years ago? Hardly more than a tin box as I remember, but lovely with it.

I still use my 350D although I`ve upgraded to a 40. Having two cameras is invalable sometimes, I`ll definitely have both available at the WHF on saturday.

You see, I remember mine as a big lovely lump of solid steel. Needed muscles to carry it round all day!

But...

Please, please, please, will someone force me to sell my 350D. I know its the right thing to do. I just need to be coaxed.

If it helps from a monetary point of view, I just sold my 350D on Fleabay for £200........

Well if you do sell it, it wont hurt once it's gone. :)

Now, that bit of advice has got be worth a Zeniths worth of anyones money. :D

As a recently bereaved and former beau camera owner......I...I...*gulp*...:|

The 350 is hardly gonna be worth a kings ransom, if it still works perfectly, I'd keep it, maybe pass it on to my young-un......so he can drop it down the toilet or fill it with dairylee or something..

It was upsetting to sell my 350d. I don't love it nearly as much as my 40d.

It's kind of like working with someone, and you get to really like them, but someone else applies for that role - they're more professional, they're better at what they do, and they charge less. You hate to let the guy you like go, but you know that this new guy will be much better at what he does.

Or like when JD in scrubs realises Cabbage is a rubbish doctor, and despite how much he despises Keith, he's got to let Keith have a chance, because he's a good doctor.

I was sad to see my 350d go, but I knew my photography had exceeded it's capabilities and I needed something more powerful.

Ask yourself this:

Has it done it's job?
Has it served you well with no complaints?
Do you have fond memories of your time together?
Try and remember the first time you met and how you felt?
Do you still have emotional feelings?
Do you think of your 350D as a him, her or it...?
Has it, he or she got a pet name?

:D

Flippin' eck! I think yu need a bit of therapy old boy. And I thought I had it bad! hahahaha :-)

I still have my D70s, why?

Because it takes cracking landscape shots........

Send the 350D off to be IR converted and give it a whole new lease of life :)

Or give it to me and I'll send it off and keep it ;)

I was considering the 350D to 30D\40D upgrade but I havn't found a decent like for like comparison to show how much improvement I would see. There are lots of improvements in performance and feel but image for image has anyone done a test?

I've not gone in to any formal type of testing or anything, but for normal, everyday shots there is no decernable difference in quality between the 350D and 40D. It's all about the feel of the thing and some of the functionality as far as I'm concerned. The 40 feels like a solid beast and is great to use. Not of course to say that the 350D isn't very nice as well.

Do you know, I suppose I'm starting to think that I should have started this tread with:

"Why, oh why did I but a 40D, when really I was quite happy with my 350D"

Gadgetmainer I suspect. Oh bloody hell, my wife was right all along!

 dont worry about it badger - keep it and use it as a second body. There are some circumstances where having two cameras slung round your neck each with different lenses is an absolute godsend. I was loathe to sell my d70s when i got the D200 and finally convinced mr LL of the wisdom of keeping it and you know what, he now agrees with me. Whats more, should I ever upgrade, I know now that the camera that would be in the for sale area is the 200 not the 70s - it was my first dslr and I love it as much now as i did 2 1/2 years ago when i bought it.

I'd keep hold of it, i'm currently trying to sell all my canon gear to start again with Nikon (40D f/s btw if anyone wants one!), and now i've sold my 400D i feel a bit lost with just the 40D around. You'll find also it's much easier to keep separate lenses on each instead of constantly changing lenses out and about (well I did anyway).

even though i have now got swmbo's 30 , i still use my 350 an awful lot. stick a decent lens on it, and its a good camera.
if you dont NEED to sell it, why bother.
youve always got a standby/second camera if you go out with two lenses fitted.
