35 f1.8

People who say it's a great lens haven't experienced any really great lenses. It's an OK lens, it does the job but it's far from outstanding. It's a damn sight bigger than it really should be, but it's light.

I use mine a fair bit for general photography but my 17-70 is my go to lens. If it was f1.4 it would certainly be used some more, f1.8 isn't quite wide enough for adequate DOF control on crop IMO.

I literally just popped out and bought mine!! LOVE it!

Now if only the weather will get better so I can use it outdoors T_T

....but to be fair its not a pro lens, its £150 new (just saying)
Maybe some people are talking about FF bodies as well (?), but for my needs its hard to beat on crop. 50 was too long for me and sits towards a 'neither' slot for crops (all just my opinion, remember this whole thing is very subjective)

A pro lens is any lens used to earn money and mine is used regularly.

I one or have owned many pro priced and specced lenses and this one is better pound for pound than many of them. It's sharper wide open than almost any other prime I've used from Canikon. The build isn't brilliant and the bokeh isn't the best but for the money it's unbeatable.

I've just checked the distortion/lens correction in Lightroom and although the pics seem pretty good straight from camera, the lens correction tool does manipulate (and improve) the image quite a bit.

Still a cracking lens though!

I'm with you on this one. I've owned and own some really great lenses, and the 35/1.8 stands with the best of them. Nikon could have beefed the build, gold-ringed it and charged double. Thank goodness they didn't!

Pro is a state of mind, a statement of income. It doesn't describe glass or equipment. If it did, then I'd have been a pro many times, but I'm not...
