I've been looking into getting a 35-70 2.8 for my d90. How do d90 users find the lens? How much should I expect to pay for a good example?
Cheers guys

I have one and used it on a D300, I found it great for people shots as it had a slightly less saturated colour compared to the latest nano coated offerings.

I still have it, but I only paid around £100 for it a few years back, so it is not really costing me anything, I have seen them for around the £300 mark.

It is a sharp lens (well mine is), however it is a touch slower focusing than the newer AF-S lenses, but not by much.

As it is all metal construction the weight of it may surprise you, it is not as heavy as the 28-70 and 24-70 lenses that replaced it, but it has a decent heft to it.

The only concern on the crop sensor body is if it is wide enough for you.

Used it on my d300 as well. Af is a little slow, but it's really sharp, love the macro function at 35mm as well! I usually use it to take pictures of people, thats why i prefer it over my Tamron 17-50. Would be perfect if it was a 24mm and not 35mm. A decent price for a mid range zoom considering that the other Nikon ones are at least 600 pounds

got one on my d300 and love it to bits, its sharp enough to cut your finger every time you press the button :) Paid £250 for mine and it was about as mint as a 1990's lens could be i guess.

cheers guys. I'll keep on the look out for a reasonably priced one.
