34 days to Christmas

Me too but can we hold it over until late January please? I'm too busy in December with dining out and buying pressies for people and stuff. Also it'll mean that the main present buying phase coincides with the January sales.

can't wait till December when i can officially decorate :), only downside is having to work over xmas, including the day.

Only 33 days before I start my Christmas shopping then. :)

Arrrrrgggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! I keep trying to start my shopping and I get sidetracked on here LOL.

Well I made a start bought a box of Christamas cards yesterday.

Knowing that some people will be wondering how to get presents this year because of lost jobs or credit crunch problems perhaps some ideas for cheap pressies would be good.

Church and Charity Chrismas Bazaars often have new stuff, often unwanted gifts, that have been donated and you can buy decent presents for a quarter of the price you would pay in the shop.I have helped at a couple recently and we have had lots of Marks and Spencer, Boots and Body Shop boxed gifts for sale. I bought tasty homemade pickles, mincemeat and puddings as well.

42 days until it's all over and the hangovers start to go away. Then people's credit card bills start arriving and all the fun starts looking a bit excessive. Queuing for a refund at M&S's service counter loses its charm but fun can be had by asking the snooty woman who's after a refund on her "unworn" gift dress if that's the dress she was wearing at the office party.

Biggest piece of advice I can give is..... Plan Ahead!

By making a list and checking it twice listing people, gift suggestions and budget we've been able to identify similar items to suit two or three people then take advantage of places like Boots who offer 3 for 2 etc.

Had we gone and bought a bit here, bit there we'd have spent a lot more, and not been able to take advantage of the offers.

Also, remember, people would usually prefer a small thoughtful, personal gift as opposed to a large, expensive item they may not want and know they could get much cheaper than you paid come the January sales.
