Yes
Using Raw + JPEG and trying to use Photoshop to paly with the Raw image, the file ext is .CR2 but photoshop comes up with the error "could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of doc"

The files are not corrupt as they work in the Canon browser, but I dont like it!
I have used PS before and if I double click the image it uses PS to try to open it!

Any Ideas??

Had a look and my version should already support this. I'm on CS2 V9.0
Will have a look round, thanks for the link :)

Ah Ok cool.
I just read in another thread someone was waiting for the 3.6 release.. for the same reason as me!
Cheers for the help.. i may be in danger of posting int he correct forum next time! ;)

OK then - another question on the same lines......the current downloads on the link above are all for CS2 - what can I do, working with CS, to get RAW files supported?

Witch I think you are with me. I have just upgraded to a 5D and now need CS2 as CS will not support it. You can either get another RAW processor or upgrade to CS2 and make sure you have version 3.5 or above of the RAW editor plugin.

Cheers for that. I got the feeling that might be the case.

Oh well, Canon's bundled RAW programme thingy it is then! :gag:

Crafty devils - I'm certain that they said they weren't issuing any more upgrades to RSE and therefore it was "tough luck" for 30D users!

Cheers for the tip!

Yup I only found this out the other day too! (About RSE)

Did not see this when I posted earlier on another thread, this is the answer...

You can still use Photoshop 8 (CS) if you convert the raw files from CR2 to DNG format first.

To do this you need to download the latest version of Adobe Camera Raw and install only the DNG convertor, which is a stand-alone application so just needs copying to your hard disk somewhere.

This simply converts your raw files into Adobe's DNG format, which can then be loaded directly into Photoshop. Or of course you could use another application like DPP to process your raw files and save them to TIFF which will load into Photoshop.

These are the links to download Adobe Camera Raw for Mac or Windows:
http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=106&platform=Macintosh
http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=106&platform=Win

Version 2.4 was the last one supported by Photoshop 8 (CS), while 5D support was added in version 3.3 so just take the Adobe Camera Raw plugin from the 2.4 download and the DNG Convertor from the latest (3.6) download.

Michael.
