300D of D50?

actually it apears that the cheapest is 249 for a 450D (still not a bad buy if you've got that much cash)

MPB has live stock updates so you need to keep an eye out and stike while the iron is hot

the other option is ebay - theres one here currently standing at 26 quid with two days to go (will probably go for about a hundred or so) from a seller with 100% feedback

Right I can get a 300d with an 18-55 lens for £139.95 or a d50 with a 70-300 lens for £159.70

Which would be the better buy? For picture quality ease of use and resale value?

300d has battery charger and neck strap

D50 has battery charger sd card and USB cable?

Scratch that they are both roughly the same price! Which would be better for a beginner wanting to shoot, still car, holiday pics and maybe some moving Motorsport?

You should better check the classifields here and you may end with a better deal :)

I do like the D50 more but maybe it's because it was my first DSLR :)

Not been a member long enough :-( otherwise I would matey

I've been on here 2 days. It's a 60 day wait I can't wait 2 more months I'm afraid

Of these 2, I've had (still got) the 300D and it's a great camera,...

It was a great camera 8 years ago, I know because I had one, but why anyone would want to buy one in 2012 with all the other options available is totally beyond me.

Not all of us have £400+ to go out and buy a camera. And as I'm just getting into photography and have no idea if I'll like it it seems silly to waste such a large amount of money on something I may not use!

i've never owned a nikon dslr but have owned quite a few nikon 35mm slr's the last one being a 801s and loved it other than i found it hunted a little at times. i sort of drifetd away from photography a few years ago when we moved house and i lost my darkroom. during that time i owned a few canons that i picked as jobs lots and tried then but soon sold them on again. anyway a couple of years ago a canon 300d came my way that was bought as a twin lens kit for 70 quid thinking i'd be selling in on quite soon but how wrong i was i quite like it and it's now my everyday camera and with the twin battery grip i find i can shoot all day. it would never have been my camera of choice but at the price i paid and the price they now sell for i think it's a fair chunk of starter camera for the price.

There are plenty of better cameras at a similar price. Rather look for a 20D/350D/400D or a D50/D70.

I've just bought one with lens , charger, strap, lens caps,in mint condition for £130. If you could find me any of those cameras with all of the stuff mentioned I'll buy it for you.

Someone posted a 20D for £94 in this thread, a 18-55 kit lens can be had for around £30-35. A strap is pennies. That would actually come in cheaper than £130.

There are always bargains around. However, if you have made your mind up for the 300D, then go for it. After all, it's you who will be using it.
