Wow, there are some fantastic places there!

Yeah I really want to do Chernobyl one day in the future :)

Yeah, that would be awesome... I've seen plenty from people who have and it's just staggering!

Anything abandoned pretty much looks cool!

Very interesting, that sunken yacht is seriously creepy .

That Bulgarian place was featured in the Flickr Blog a few weeks back, it looks absolutely stunning.

I'm sure they are all genuine, but some are so surreal they look like photoshop merges.

Now you mention it I remember that I try and follow the blog as can be real interesting

I know what you mean

check out the stuff on here, its a lot nearer home ! http://www.derelictlondon.com/

I'll check that out when I'm not on my phone :)

To add a couple of places.

A run down casino in the south of Cambodia.

And anyone from the Birmingham area?? Theres an amazing abandoned building near millennium point. I've done a few photoshoots there, and it's just a great place, still with old signage from the 50's littered about.

Some great places to photograph on that website. But the graffiti spoils many of the shots. It's really bad how this graffiti has got out of hand. 30yrs ago there was not any.All caused by Hip hop culture from America "the buffalo girls go round the outside, round the outside". With a spray can for a brain.

You have to wonder why some of these places are abandoned!

Some awesome places here. Might be a good thread to start here to get our own takes on these sorts of places?

London has changred so much.

As a kid in South London in the early 60s there was still many WW2 "bomb sites" especially around the docks and in areas with industry.

Where the MI6 building stands was a derelict wharf we used as an adventure ground. Some of the streets behind the Harleyford Road side of the Oval cricket ground were full of rows of houses cleared for demolition to build new "council estates"

A time to be a photographer of derelict London for sure. Less than 20 years after the war and not until the 80s did the rebuild commrnce.

This thread has got me thinking about getting around my now rural area to find derelict industty. Lots of non agricultural industry has closed down and new houses built......

At last I may have something of a project!

Steve

some super images, would of been great if they were accompanied by little stories of their history

Agreed...some of the images just ask so many questions it would be great to know what happened.

And strangely enough wildlife is thriving there as well now

No really to strange when you think about it. The radioactivity is confined to a few areas now (in lethal doses) and there are b****r all humans around to trash the place further.

I think the Ukranian Government is looking at deeming it a nature reserve :cuckoo:

Sadly most the derelict sites round here have been turned into posh offices. All empty of course so in a way I suppose they still are derelict!

Some fantastic pictures there. The one of the sunken yacht in Antarctica was really surreal.

But then, at the bottom of the page, came this...
